Hi everyone, if anyone else is experiencing mass stuttering or random freezes, it is likely your CPU usage is HIGH right now. It was fine about two days ago but now its really really bad. Im running a Ryzen 7 7800x3d and BF2042 has been jumping from 70-90% cpu usage i only have small apps running (Discord, Spotify Steam) and the CPU just gets eaten up by 2042. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue or not.
I didn't have the Radeon software even installed only the chipset drivers. I have downloaded and even checked the software and it is off. Not sure what else it could be the game just entirely hard reset my pc and caused it to not boot again i had to reinstall bios to even get it to boot again.
Can you try checking your AMD application and look in the “Gaming > Battlefield 2042” section to see if the “Radeon Anti-lag” option is enabled? If it is enabled, disable it and start your game to test it.
Let me know 😃 This solution was detected by user H4RP33R , thanks to him.
I think this is normal about "CPU usage". After testing with three users, including myself, our games run at between 76% and 82% CPU usage (on LOW). Now we need to find the cause of the lag/freezing.
Try this: -Close all applications running in the background on your computer (discord, browser, spotify, overclock app...) -Disable all overlays (NVIDIA, EA, Discord, etc.). -Disable “game” mode in the Windows settings. -When you go to the Task Manager and the Performance tab, how many "Cores" and "Logical processors" do you see?
So heres what I did, changed dedicated GPU in nvidia control pannel, I also made sure windows settings were set to high performance. Since the only AMD thing i have installed is only the drivers for my cpu and chipset i have nothing else. Im not sure what this is it could be a total game issue. I also restarted the pc several times to make sure. Not sure what else it could be i even used Nvidias "optimization" thing and it did the same issue, could this be an issue with any latest update and driver incompatibility?
Have you tried changing your settings on the AMD app? You can try to set your AMD settings to default sometimes it works. You can also try changing some settings in your game that might influence this issue (shadows...)
Thank you for your DxDiag. After analyzing it, I can't find anything that could interfere with the game. Here are some solutions that might solve your lag problem in the game (CPU usage can depend on several factors in-game) :
1- Create a file named “user.cfg” in your game folder, for example > C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2042 2- Once your “user.cfg” file has been created, open it and add the following :
Hi spikedogv Could you send me a DxDiag so I can find some clues based on the errors it shows and your complete configuration ?
Press the Windows and R keys at the same time. Type DxDiag in the window that appears, then click Save all information and save the file wherever you want. Then drag and drop the file here, click Share - add the .txt file as an attachment.
Thank you
