Artifacts, White Flashes, Rainbow artifacts

Played this game when it first came out. I remember it had a bunch of bugs. But this....
What you see in the menu appear in game too. In game it's often the sky that gets filled with these artifacts first, then it covers the entire screen until I turn around, then it disappears only to come back 10 seconds later.

Specs:

ryzen 3600x

16gb RAM 3000mhz

rtx 3080 10gig

Attempts to fix:

Tried 5 or six different nvidia drivers, DDU every time

reinstall game

delete cache and profile in My Documents

Turn off graphics settings one my one, hoping one of them is causing this problem

undervolt GPU

Stock volt + heavy underclock
powerlimit GPU

NOTHING I try fixes this.

Other games I play without issues:
Valorant

PUBG

Hogwarts Legacy

  • I learned the hard way that just because other games are working, it doesn't mean the binaries for the new game are at fault. They could be - just saying it is quite possible it's something specific with your hardware and drivers.

    Some quick suggestions:

    - Make sure you are using the correct NVIDIA driver.

    - Try a different port on your GPU and monitor. Those pictures remind me of a failing port I had.

    - Try another display cable, if you have one.

If none of that helps, I suggest you attach a DXDIAG report, as someone may spot something. While you're at it, post some screen shots of your in-game video settings.

  • It is possible that something is wrong with my hardware. I have had so many of them over the years though. Artifacts would most likely be caused by a faulty gpu, bad vram to be more specific. So when I underclock my gpu heavily and keep the temps at 49C & play the game in low preset in 720 and still get these glitches. I know something is up. Drivers I can buy though, this problem was 90% less persistent with old 412 something nvidia drivers. can't use those anymore though.

    Hey @StarLordChris,

Do you have Nvidia DLSS enabled by any chance? Or Ray Tracing?
If yes, can you please turn those off completely (via the in-game settings) and check if you're still seeing these weird things?
