bf2042 got removed because your epic subscription has ended.

Logged into ea app today and got a message saying game removed reason: your epic subscription has ended. renew your subscription to continue playing. 

I bought battlefield 2042.  From ea website no less, still in there in order history along with my recipt email.  Why is EA removing my game and why does epic subscription have anything to do with it?  i don't have epic subscription, i don't know what epic subscription is, i don't use epic or their services.  

What the hell is going on?
