Can't connect to anything but Portal

I'm playing on a PS5. I can't connect to a game other than in Portal. I can't connect in Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush or Hazard. It says "Trying to connect" then loads the Lobby and never gets populated then kicks me back to the menu screen. My mate has exactly the same problem and we have had this since installing the game at the beginning of the month.

  • Thank you for trying to assist BF_Bouns.

My PSN and EA account are linked. I double checked on EA.HELP to make sure.

I have rebooted my router and tried other routers on different ISP's many times.

I tried changing my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 this morning, but still no luck.

I cant understand what the problem is. I have contacted Playstation and EA, but am just being given the run around and as I stated this problem is not only being experienced by myself.

I can connect to any game on Portal or Deathmatch on Rush or Breakthrough Solo/Co-Op but nothing else.

After searching for a minute or 2 after trying to join a game on Breakthrough, Conquest, Rush or Hazard i get sent to the lobby where I am the only player and get sent back to the main menu after 5 - 10 minutes.

@Hamest81 Ok, can you verifiy that the Crossplay is "ON" ?
If not, can you select "ON"
    (go Options, then General)
  • Hi BF_Bouns,

Crossplay is turned on and the servers on Portal are populated by PS, Xbox and PC users.

    OK @Hamest81

Can you try first to turn off the console and after this, to unplug your PS5, wait two minutes and plug again. This action clear the cache.

    😉

  • @BF_Bouns

I switched off and unplugged my PS5 and router for half an hour. Hasn't worked. Still stuck in the lobby waiting.

Is it possible that this is a country specific problem? As I mentioned earlier, my friend has exactly the same problems on his PS5 as well.

Is there a way to find out from EA themselves if this is the case?

  • @Rokebo73 I can't find a crossplay setting on the PS5. Only under privacy for game invitations. I turned it on just to see, but made no difference. I can play against users on other platforms, but only on PORTAL. All other game modes give me the problem.

    @Hamest81 Crossplay on the PlayStation

Choose settings. Open the Account and privacy tab in Settings. Scroll down to Gameplay Privacy, where you'll also find the Allow crossplay setting. Set this to Yes to enable cross-platform play or No to disable it.
