Are you using any software with an overlay? Yes
If yes, can you list them here? Steam, Origin
If you disable this software, does that have any effect? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Game Menu
In which game menu were you when the bug occurred? Key bindings
Please select your region North America
On which server did this happen? Not server specific
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) It always happens
Summarize your bug i.e. I want to change Yaw Left and Yaw Right to a mouse movement. It auto binds Mouse 5 the moment I click the bind to change it.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into key bindings and attempt to change any key binding to a mouse input.
What happens when the bug occurs? Regardless of what button is inputted, Mouse 5 will become binded instead.
What should be happening instead? The button I press should be binded.

Under the Mouse key bind column, when attempting to change a current bind to another mouse bind, it will auto assign Mouse 5 regardless of what button is pressed.

  • I refunded the game so I am no longer having this issue. Good luck to everyone.

@WonkoRealtime I tried Backing up [Moved it to a BackUp Folder] the PROFSAVE_profile and then allowing BF 2042 to remake the PROFSAVE_profile. The [Mouse 5] Keybinding issue remains unchanged.
  • @GH0ST_D0G_0 did you reinstall BF in between?

Deleting the Origin-Cache never worked for me, but others mentioned to manually clear the BF cache and this sounds promising. It's under %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\Documents\Battlefield 2042\cache

This solution worked for me, deleting the cache. Previously deleted the settings folder, but this did not work.

Just tried it again, now that a few updates where applied, because i have never ending faith in the developers, but it seems the situation didn't improve much.

I still couldn't assign my PS4 controller (assigning one button worked, but then this one button got reassigned to all other actions i tried) and still had to delete the game cache in order to unassign where unassigning worked with holding ESC but for axes assignments only on the lower one.

Is anybody on PC out there successfully using a controller?

  • After following the tips about deleting the cache folder, the game reset and everything is working as it should.

    Thank you for the advice!

After update #3 this issue have suddenly appeared on my game. But I now see many people have had this issue even before this particular update. It started with me entering a game, where as my left and right camera movement did not work. Up and down camera movement still worked, and all keyboard bindings seemed to work.

After following someones suggestion of deleting my profile files in windows to reset everything, I ended up with this issue.

As most people write, the mouse 5 button will be automatically bound, and when trying to rebind the button again, a console controllers menubutton icon shows up to "clear" the binding.

I'm currently not having any sort of joystick/joypad/controller plugged into my PC so that button do not exist.

I disabled Steams input for controllers as per someones suggestion, but no difference.

I actually plugged in a xbox one controller to the PC to try and clear the bidnings, it did not work either.

    Product: Battlefield 2042

    Platform: PC - Steam

    Region: Europe (Sweden)

Mouse: Logitech MX518 (the new "rebooted" edition)

    Keyboard: Corsair Gaming K70

Till this issue is solved, I guess I'll go back to BF3/BF4 for my weekly Battlefield fix.

    Best Regards, v4rgen

  • I have had this issue, fixed by deleting the cache file in documents/bf2042

    hopefully works for others

@richmass20 Thanks for the information. I was going nuts trying to get my mouse buttons to work. This is the only solution that worked.

Deleting the cache should be pinned for the fix to the Mouse Bind issue.
