Not sure what issue is. All device drivers are updated. Windows is updated.
I try playing bf2042 and I try starting it through steam and origin and EA. Every time I get "failed to start ( 2 )" it pops up with the bf loading screen (small box) and as soon as the loading bar completes it gives that error.
I also tried playing Apex and got the same error. All my system reqs are up fine for the game. I've played both games in the past. I tried deleting and reinstalling everything 1 at a time.
Please help!

It seems like the Webroot anti-virus software may be causing this.
Disable that software temporarily and check if you can then play, thanks.

Well, the update on 12/9/2021 caused the game to not load beyond the EAC screen if you use Webroot SecureAnywhere. They must have updated EAC with this update. This was a well documented problem with Back4Blood and EAC also.
That is a workaround at best. Ive used webroot and played other games with EAC for years without issue. The real question that needs to he addressed is why is the 2042 implementation of EAC so prone to issues? I play hell let loose and squad and neither one has ever once had an issue with EAC and I have been using webroot since about 2016.
- @EA_Barry I disabled webroot and I still get that error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I have made sure my GPU drivers are up to date. Any thoughts? The game was working yesterday. I even tried the repair game option in origin and that didn't work. Do you know if we can get our money back if this issue isn't fixed?
Some services still persist with webroot shut down (look in services.msc). Sounds like reinstall is the only viable option at the moment.
I concur and same here. I been using Webroot flawlessly for years now on everything from Insurgency sandstorm to BF4 and 5.
EA - Frankly, I'm on the fence about how much I even care at this point. I used to be hard-core BF over CoD fan for years, but you guys have made the last three BF games suck so bad, I'm not sure how much troubleshooting I want to even bother with for this haphazard game you've released. Maybe just do this... Pull it offline for about 6 months, make it decent, and then re-release it. Because this is just painful to watch.
(SIGH) Eh, what the h3ll... So, screen shot attached. It was having this launching problem probably 50% of the time before the big update that was just released. Now it does nothing else, and I can't get it to launch. Yeah my drivers are up-to-date, and no I'm not going to try pointless ideas like checking my firewall or disabling antivirus.
Anyway, if anyone has an actual solution to make this steaming pile launch, fire away... Maybe they actually fixed the gameplay itself... OOOOPS, wouldn't know. I can't get the game to launch.
December 9th update caused this same issue to appear on both Origin and EA Play :\ what is going on this is horrible, before the update it ran fine.
Now I cannot even start the game. Tried repairing the game, uninstalling the EAC and reinstalling it. Same result. If anyone finds a solution kindly share it with the rest of us.
GAME WILL NOT LUANCH AFTRE THIS UPDATE.. 170 HRs plus AND ALL OF A SUDDEN NOT WORKING ANYMORE.. I"M NOT UNINSTALLING MY WEBROOT BECAUSE OF AN ISSUE YOU CREATED... ITS YOUR MESS YOU CLEAN IT UP ASAP ...... THIS NEEDS TO BE AT THE TOP OF YOUR TO DO LIST !!
