ok here is an update. All night after doing this exceptions, i was able to play. my 1st night since the crap started. not 1 issue. multiple opens and closes of 2042. today, after no changes in policies or exceptions in webroot, the issue is back again. i dont know if EA changed something, or Webroot is finding something else. i played about 20 HZ games last night no issue.... now i am back to searching again.
- @FierceGreenFire That's straight up not okay. What a trash fest this is. Support staff from both sides being useless, people constantly pretending like they know what to do, and absolutely zero real-world solutions.
I did find this on the EAC website https://www.easy.ac/en-us/support/game/guides/service/
It is an updated version of EAC that wasn't on my PC. Replacing the versions did nothing
Looks like you just need to talk to the right person. I'm back in.
Submit a ticket for support on the webroot website explaining your problem and they should be able to help you out. This seems to be the quickest way to get access to the game again.
I am done with EA, Dice and Battlefield. Seriously, all Battlefield is shoot, die, rinse, repeat.
From the Webroot link shared earlier in the thread, it appears they expect the next patch release until sometime during the first quarter of next year. So, it seems the best option here is either get a new AV, take a chance on uninstalling Webroot and getting infected or call their support line and have a tech remote in to disable whatever processes that are associated to the issue. Not the news we wanted...

@Danno_USMC Everyone keeps saying it's Webroot, because they are creating a work around and some are able to play. This is not the case, EAC was on beta and initial launch of game. Game launched fine. December 6th update broke it for users and not just Webroot users. All, because of EA rushing to get the updates pushed out and over looked something critical.
Not only does it still not launch for me, I went ahead and uninstalled Webroot and my game will still not launch. It, will try a to launch game, then upon failure and clicking the OK button. The launcher automatically tries to launch a second time and fails.
So, I'm unable to play the game period and with Webroot aside. I, also received help email from EA stating they are aware that many others are in the same situation. They are working on reviewing the information for a potential fix, but no ETA and further said they have no idea why the game isn't launching or if a fix is possible.
Without Webroot I get this error:
Launch Error
Unexpected error: (Another launcher is already running)

I work for a company that owns Webroot so I have access to both the consumer and business product, here is what I see:
Consumer Webroot: Not able to launch the game, even with exclusions. I cannot launch the game even if I "shut down protection". I can only launch the game if I uninstall WSA completely.
Business Webroot: I can only launch the game if I add these two files to the Block/Allow files in the Webroot UI:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2042\BF2042_launcher.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat\EasyAntiCheat.exe
Side note #1: I am not sure how you got this file to be excluded, Webroot says it's not an executable:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2042\BF2042.exe
Side note #2: I ran a Windows Procmon trace (from sysinternals) when WSA was "shut down" and I saw WRCoreService.x64.exe still running and scanning the Game executables, which is probably why the game is still blocked despite WSA being "shut down". WR does not allow a user (or admin) to kill this service through task manager or CMD.
i was able to get all 3 exe in my cloud console and the game ran fine 1 night after that. next day, it was broke again. now i have to uninstall webroot, load the game, then reinstall commercial license
