Massive Packet loss 2042 servers, Portal works FINE.

2042 game modes giving me massive packet loss to the point of sliding around like I'm walking on ice, hit detection being garbage, driving cars with the equipment rubber banding above me and back down like an old cup and ball game etc etc.

I can play portal just fine, no problems whatsoever, only the 2042 main servers and modes.

Listen, I have this entire week off from work and I will comply with whatever you need me to in order to fix this.  I'm tired of having every bf be riddled with bugs on release and being slowly fixed over time or in my case not playing for a year so all the bugs are fixed.  Whoever worked on bf1 did a great job on not releasing the game as a fubar project.  Treat this the same.

  • I think I fixed this, it was a discord option that seemed to be lagging me out sometimes. I didn't have to be in any voice channels on discord for this to happen. Exit discord & remove it from hidden tray too

    @EA_Atic Finally managed to connect. Immediately within 5 seconds of the game starting, I had the following network stats

    Hi @madcowman20000, so that means the connection towards the servers is losing data, not the server itself. Sounds like a routing issues and all I can recommend is talking to your ISP about bad routing.

    @EA_Atic
    It can't be ISP related as I have no issue playing other EA based games and can play battlefield 2042 with no issue on PS5 in the same house.

    And it can't be my PC as I have perfect connection to other EA server hosted games and other game servers in general with no history of packet loss. Especially to the extent I get when playing battlefield so being ISP related is out of the question. And I can guarantee if I rang them up they'd just blame your side and we'd get no where.

    @madcowman20000  For most of the network issues, that we are seeing it's network hubs that you are getting routed to are having issues.

    Inside the red box are potential server hubs that keep sending your data to the end destination and in this case our server. If one of those servers hubs has an issue with being overworked or cant handle the data it will reflect on your connection to us and in-game (bad ping, loss of connections, data loss and so on). This is outside of our domain and control as we don't control how your data get sent to us only that our system accepts it. This is why i sen you to the ISP to see if they can help out identify where or what network hub that are having issues.

    My great paint skills.

    Started getting huge packet loss few weeks back, 2 months max. I seem to only have problems with Battlefield 2042 and none with other games. Got a 400Mbit/20Mbit connection and a juicy PC with RTX 3090.

    I tried a connection from a different ISP, as well as routing my traffic via VPNs to no avail.

    I don't know if Dice/EA changed something when it started, but I used to be able to play just fine. Now e.g. flying is just horrible with the constant yellow packet loss icon blinking in the left top corner. According to the connection bar it doesn't seem to usually go over 1%, but it's still really game breaking and rubber-bandy.

    PS. I have upgraded to Windows 11, and upgraded ASUS BIOS semi-recently, so I can't completely rule them out either as I don't exactly remember the timelines.

    Found the culprit for my packet loss, and I'm ashamed to say it was my router/VDSL box. Giving it a boot completely erased all the issues. It remains a mystery why did this only affect BF2042, but perhaps some other games' net code handle packet loss differently and smoothen it out. Who knows how that affected my performance though 🙂

    So because you guys decided to go with a major provider like what, AWS? my traffic to the server is always going to be garbage?  Great, so the game is still unplayable after I gave you guys a 7 month break to "fix it," or so I would have hoped.  Glad I can't buy and host my own official ranked rules server in a location near me..... That would be too 2006.  The last straw for this franchise.

  • i also have the same problem since one month ago, and only on BF 2042! can´t understand how this start happening, not from  myPC or internet, changed everything of the router, a new cable and still it is happening.. i think is the last game i buy from them i play this since battlefield 2 (2005) and everygame since then. First time this happen.. and no fix for this apparently from EA. disappointing
