[PC] DirectX Device Hung when playing Ultrawide / Large FOV

Loaded up BF2042 with my new RTX 4080 only to find severe stability issues when the viewport gets too wide. I was able to play a full match with no issue on my 4k TV, but switching the resolution to 3440x1440 caused the above crash as soon as I took over my character with a first person view on the ground. To clarify - this only crashes when in a match and on the ground, all other situations work fine including the zoom-out view of the map, the main menus, etc.

Situations that run without issue:
Playing with 16:9 aspect ratio

- Being in a vehicle, parachuting or gliding

Situations that cause a crash instantly

- Boots on ground gameplay at 3440x1440, regardless of GPU usage, with FOV above 70.

Situations that helped mitigate the issue
- Turning down FOV to 65 allowed for a couple of minutes of normal gameplay, but then crashed. Lowering further improves the length of play, but ultimately crashes. Lowering too much further gave me motion sickness on the screen, so felt it wasn't an acceptable compromise.

What else has changed about the system?
The latest nvidia driver to support the new card, sadly I cannot try an earlier driver as this is the only one supporting the new card. The game did not exhibit this issue for me previously on an RTX 2080Ti.

Other specs include an i9 9900k, 32GB RAM, 850W PSU.

  • @HedonismBot14 This seems fixed now on driver 528.02. Max settings, max FOV, have not crashed yet in my quick testing on 4080 FE.
