For me the problem was ExpressVPN. I had to disable all of its services to be able to play BF2042 without crashing to Desktop or a BSOD. I believe the EA anti-cheat software is considering it cheating software even though I wasn't actively using a VPN when playing BF2042, and I am not sure how a VPN would help me cheat anyway.
Maybe you should check for similar Windows services on your computer and stop them; you might have to do it after every reboot if you don't disable the services.
Hopefully EA can fix their anti-cheat software to whitelist ExpressVPN and other affected applications. Also, having their anti-cheat program initiate a BSOD is just a bad user experience. Perhaps they were trying to be punitive, but obviously their software is hurting us non-cheaters as well. The app should simply close BF2042 and display a message box telling us what software it doesn't like.
Issue non resolved, nobody reported any VPN-related stuff, Mr Guy
