  • What is my opinion:

    1. It must not be related to Easy Anti-Cheat, because Battlefield V doesn't make use of it and it also stopped working. Apex Legends MAKES USE of Easy Anti-Cheat and it is working perfectly.
    2. Both Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield V authenticate through Steam first, and once authenticated, authenticate through the EA App. So, at first, authentication through Steam succeeds, as it proceeds to the next authentication. After the EA authentication screen appears and disappears from the screen, the game simply does not open, after a short time it returns to the application from which it was launched (Steam or EA App).

My conclusion: Apex Legends is the only one authenticated exclusively by EA, and it works. Although the two Battlefield games pass through Steam authentication, there must be some problem (on some machines only) in the integration between the two authentications (Steam and EA).

@FLLSilva i believe EAC from apex (eac_etos i believe) got some issues with eac bf2042 use !
I have seen work arounds to uninstall all anti cheat software (eac , eac_etos or what ever) and only install eac from bf2042.

Delete all leftover folders manualy from those anti cheat software (also check hidden folders)

    cheers
  • @Rokebo73 Thanks for helping.

On the first day I detected this problem (on 3/25) I did all these procedures, from uninstalling and completely cleaning the EAC, to uninstalling, completely cleaning and reinstalling both Battlefield 2042 and the EA App and any folder called Origin that I found on disk. And all of that didn't work out.

But I did the removal of the EAC again today, as you said, but nothing changed, I believe that the problem is not with him (at least his LOGs do not record any problems).

I am attaching the log files from the attempt to run the game I just made.

I've done all the tests possible, I only have 02 tests left:

    1. I bought a license for my son two weeks ago. I'm going to ask him to log in with his Steam and EA account on my machine, and then determine if the problem is really with my machine installation or with my account.
    2. Completely uninstall the game (again), and then have it reinstalled via the EA App (instead of installing via Steam). I don't know how the EA App will behave, if it will install itself or if it will install it through Steam. In the latter case, if the installation is done through Steam, I will have wasted time on this test.

    cheers.

  • Hi.

I just performed the first test.

I asked my son to log into his Steam account and then log into his EA account, and then try to open the game.

Exactly the same thing happens: right after the initial loading screen, the screen goes blank and goes back to the Steam/EA App.

We also tested it by creating a new user profile in Windows, but it didn't change anything.

His machine (where everything works) has a slightly lower configuration than mine (his processor is a Xeon and mine is a Ryzen 5600X. His memory is only 16GB, mine is 32GB. His Windows is 10, Windows mine is Windows 11). The video cards are exactly the same: ASUS GTX-1060 GB.

I need to know what the problem is and fix it. I invested a lot of money to buy a new copy to play with my son, and now he has the game and he can play it and I just can't even get into it anymore.

    Just kidding.

@FLLSilva you did play before at that system ?
Also at the same time with youre son ?

Nothing changed in the software configuration at youre system? New virus scanner , firewall , malware / addware? new network ? ect ect ect

    cheers
  • @Rokebo73Nothing other than normal Windows updates.

My son and I have the same antivirus and firewall software (Bitdefender). We play on the same network.

A few hours ago I did another test: I reinstalled Windows 11 from an ISO. Before installing the latest updates from Windows Update again, I tested the game and the same thing happened, nothing changed.

This lack of a LOG that points out the problem is what irritates me, doesn't it register anywhere?

@FLLSilva did ya realy a clean install from windows , or just an update/reinstall over the old one ?
    Did ya format drive ?

At wich game platform did ya buy BF2042 at ?
  • @Rokebo73 I bought it on Steam, in December/2022. I played several times until the end of January/2023. In February, my vacation ended, and I spent the entire month without entering the game.
Now in March/2023, I bought another copy on Steam for my son to play with me, and I found that the game no longer opened, neither the BF2042 nor the BFV that I played either.
  • @Rokebo73 Yes, the two copies are completely separate, I bought it as a gift through Steam, it was sent to my son's email and redeemed through his Steam, on his machine.
Steam doesn't even allow me to buy more than one copy for the same logged-in account, if the game is in my library, it only allows me to buy it as a gift.
  • @Rokebo73Hey.

Yes, I tested it, and it doesn't work.

First, the new EA App no longer has this properties option (for Steam items).

Second, I entered the parameter +Clientport 22255 in the game's advanced options, within Steam. It didn't make the slightest bit of difference.

Third, my son isn't even playing that game anymore, and even with his machine turned off, mine doesn't work, so it's not his installation that's influencing mine, nor is it our router because the two machines connect through the same router.

I've been following other threads similar to mine, from people with the exact same problem that remain unresolved.

I noticed that some of them have the same processor as me, if not identical, from the same line (AMD Ryzen 5 5600X).

I still believe the problem is related to the processor.

  • @Rokebo73 I found a solution, and it's related to the EA App itself.

My EA App (C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EADesktop.exe) was set to run as administrator, and it still never worked. So today I had the following idea:

    1. Run the EA App in Windows 8 Compatibility Mode + Administrator Mode. And it worked.

After the EA App first successfully ran the game (both battlefield 2042 and Battlefield V), I closed the EA App and did the following:

    1. I removed Windows 8 compatibility mode (I left only administrator mode). And it continued to work.

Maybe it was some initial configuration that the new EA App should have done right after its update, and it wasn't getting it. As soon as I put it in compatibility mode with Windows 8, it managed to complete and returned to running the games normally.
