Sound Issue

Been having sound issues for the last few days. I think since the last nvidia driver update. My sound partially is lost. What I mean by that is I can hear gunfire, explosions but the capturing a point sound is gone, reload is gone, voice overs are gone. Sometimes the spotting sound.  Game play is fine but the at the end of the game, I am getting some of those spinning blue squares, and the game wont quit. Goes to blackscreen and when I alt tab out and go to task manager, I could not end task, and on the EA APP, the play button is grayed out like I am still playing. My computer will not restart nor shutdown normally. I have to hold power button down. Its crazy.

I stopped corsairs icue thinking that was a problem and also changed headsets. Did'nt help. Also repaired game once, then uninstalled game and reinstall. No help. Tried reinstalling the newest nvidia driver. Played most of a round then right at the end, lost part of the audio.  Going to try an older nvidia driver, and see how that goes.  I did not see this specific topic anywhere, I know there have been other audio problems. Sucks on a 2xp weekend.  Thanks for any help.

Also using Windows Dolby Atmos with Corsair HS80max headset

another effort, with windows spatial sound off, still partial audio cut out almost immediately. Did another repair too.  and when i tried to end task in task manager, bf2042 moved from APPS to Background processes. and I could not end it.

As above states, if you have nVidia sound installed go to Device Manager and right click nVidia sound and select disable sound and see if that helps.

  • a few things come to mind...

Whether you revert to a prior NVIDIA driver or reinstall most recent:

    • The NVIDIA driver install provides an option for audio driver install. Don't install it, unless you know you need it.
    • Use the "clean installation" option during the NVIDIA driver install.

Disable any unused audio devices in Windows. I had issue similar to yours years ago and this was the resolution.

Tried reverting back to old driver, didn't work. Tried disabling nvidia devices, didn't work.  The old driver had the same audio driver so I may go back a little farther. I still am suspicious of icue and my headset, sometimes my headset loses connection to icue but audio still works. Just doesnt show up in icue, I unplug the receiver to get it back. Exhausting. Thanks for the replies. 🙂

Just got through a game and everything worked fine. It was a short round but I didn't lose any sound. Some realtek audio drivers were installed and now show up in sounds menu.  I went through every audio device and updated driver. Nvidia drivers are the newest ones. I did turn off Dolby atmos but I know before that was not an issue. icue is fine. and nvidia playback output is disabled too. Thanks for suggestions.
