Hold the change ammo type button rather then just tapping it.

Workaround (works on PS5) - change controls to ‘custom’, then set Crouch/Prone to L3, melee to dpad up and grenade to ‘O’ (not sure what the equivalent is on Xbox, think it’s B’). You can switch ammo types with no problems and I find having ‘O’ as select grenade is better than dpad up anyway.
