Unable to Launch Game (Steam/EA Desktop App)

Hi Support Team,

I've been trying to play BF2042 these past two days, but am not able to get pass the splashscreen. It'd would sometime show the loading bar progressing and not at all at times, but the result is always the splashscreen disappears and then returns to the EA desktop App. I have both a Steam copy and an EA desktop App copy. Both returns same results.

I have follow many fixes from this thread:
BF2042 will not launch via EA Play/Xbox Game Pass on Windows 11 | EA Forums - 6968020

I have attached a DxDiag report.

  • A new install of windows on a fresh new drive fixed the issue. IDK what's the issue before, It had work on that install of windows before.. Just stopped playing for a mouth and this **bleep**.. RIP

Many Thanks for the help 🖖

  • It's most likely to due something with EAAntiCheatService. It's bad in the event logs again. same error:

The description for Event ID 1 from source Application cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

    EAAntiCheatService
    Failed retrieving service path.

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

Trying new account, it'll most likely need to be in administrators group as well I'm guessing..

    Many Thanks

I'm not sure why the game isn't launching. It's hard to diagnose without any error messages.

It sounds like you've already tried repairing, uninstalling, and reinstalling Battlefield 2042 on Steam.

You can also try creating a new Windows 11 username account and see if the game will run on the new Windows 11 account.

    EAAntiCheatService Failed retrieving service path.

This sounds like an issue with EA anticheat not loading correctly.

Try to uninstall and reinstall EA anticheat.

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/pc/ea-anticheat/

Follow the steps under How to uninstall EA anticheat. Make sure to choose Uninstall All option so EA anticheat is completely uninstalled.

    Reboot the PC after uninstall.

Then follow the steps How to install EA anticheat.

Check Windows Event Viewer for any error messages. See if there's any errors for EA anticheat or Battlefield 2042.

I had try that and it still doesn't launch..

    Many Thanks

  • Try making a backup copy of Documents\Battlefield 2042 folder, then delete the Battlefield 2042 folder.

Doing so will reset the game settings to default.
