Voice Chat not working PC

Voice chat refuses to work. Turned Crossplay on/off. Turned Chat on/off via sound menu, the party/squad option underneath that is always greyed out and un selectable. Joined a party with my wife who was on PS5, i could see her voice icon/tag pop up on screen but couldn't hear her, i tried speaking and she couldn't hear me and confirmed that my voice icon/tag wasn't even showing up on her screen. Checked my gamebar overlay audio settings, headset is set to default on audio and mic. Checked my windows and devices settings to confirm the same. Rebooted PC. Checked for Updates, checked for fixs. Nothing has worked. 

Any help appreciated, i've seen this pop up on Reddit but never any solutions outside of "check you default settings/turn the chat option on".
