It seems they fixed the bug.
I restored my key bindings to the default. But the driver Fire key was assigned to Mouse 7. I just changed it to LMB and now I can use tanks as assistant, and no auto-firing is happening to me.
Necro-ing a dead thread, but this issue is persistent for me on my Rog Zaphyrus G14, whether peripherals are plugged in or not. I also reset to default keybinds and it STILL auto-fires, validated, repaired game, re-installed, etc. I do not have this issue on my desktop or my ROG Ally Z1X (Controller), so it's something specific to the way it interfaces with specific devices.
This does not happen in any other games or Battlefield titles. Just 2042...
