From a gameplay perspective, elevators are not great. I hated having to wait for them in BF4, I didn’t like the travel time, I didn’t like that my arrival would be announced by a “ting” while I’m trapped in a small box. Admittedly the later can feel similar with these noisy zip lines, but at least I’m not stuck with 3 teammates who though it would be a good idea to all ride together - and I guess die together.
Ziplines are just more dynamic. No wait times, fast movement, and even some tactical choices when going down. It certainly makes the environment less realistic, but I’m happy for the better gameplay.

I can't ram a jeep into an elevator and ride it as a glitchy mess to the top of the building. The game is just plain less fun because of that.
I'm ok with ADDITIONAL traversal options. They're great even. But elevators had their place, and would still have a place if the game didn't hate fun.
Imagine a giant elevator in Contaminated that an MBT could fit on going from that tunnel/bunker area to the top area. Then, that you could break it at the top and it would create a giant mess at the bottom. That could have been sick.
Instead we get breakable rubble piles. Yay...

Ziplines are just better in every way gameplay wise.
Elevators were plain bad. This is nostalgia talking.

Yes, right now BF6 is way too conservative—the building destruction feels far too small-scale and timid.

What you said makes sense, but if you play the new map, you'll find that ziplines feel completely out of place with the hotel's style. Battlefield 6 isn't "Ziplinefield 6" — ziplines and elevators can coexist. You can't just keep ziplines and ditch elevators; that's like cutting off your head to cure a headache.

Anyway, here's my take (using the new lab map as an example): you can put ziplines outside the hotel, but use elevators inside. If DICE really doesn't want to do elevators, then rework the hotel into something that actually feels like a proper stronghold — add more cover and military facilities. The current hotel just feels way too jarring with ziplines.

I really miss elevators; they are part of the sandbox. Yes I'm sure on paper ziplines are "better for gameplay" but they arn't better for fun. Can you imagine if they remade siege of Shanghai with ziplines instead of elevators...There is so much more room fun messing around. They make sense in construction zones i think but on a fully build hotel it makes no sense. At least give the option and put them there. Taking elevators to elevated positions and then eventually parachuting down was my favorite thing to do in bf4, but you cant really do that at all in bf6 due to lack of elevators and lack of verticality.
