Aircraft Systems Issue – Flares and Lock-On

Gameplay Issue – Aircraft Systems

Several aircraft gameplay problems are affecting the fixed-wing experience in Battlefield 6.

Flare Countermeasure Issue

Aircraft flares sometimes fail to break missile tracking even when deployed correctly, creating inconsistent countermeasure behavior.

Attack Aircraft Lock-On Issue

Attack aircraft missiles sometimes fail to hit ground vehicles after a successful lock, reducing their anti-vehicle effectiveness.

Recommendation:

A successful lock-on should reliably result in a hit unless the target deploys countermeasures.

Aircraft Balance Issue

Aircraft can currently be destroyed too easily by air-to-air missiles and tank TOW missiles. The difficulty of destroying aircraft is much lower than the skill required to fly them.

Map Suggestion

Adding one large-scale map each season would improve aircraft gameplay. Base distance should exceed the engagement range of multiple AA vehicles and TOW missiles.

This issue is noticeable during normal gameplay and affects aircraft survivability and pilot engagement.

  • Flares are insanely bad in BF6.  For infantry, you can actually watch your missile track a flare from an ally source and it will miss the enemy.

For the point you raise that it hits anyways, I'll blame that on giving engies 5 rockets to just spam at everything.  It's an insane amount of AA that air has to deal with.  The jank means at many times, someone is getting screwed by a broken mechanic rather than enjoying the game.

Removing TOW from ground, minus the AA tank who should be the ONLY armor to get reliable AA, is a wide spread school of thought.  Many people are unhappy with ground getting those stupid missiles.  They're essentially a second tank shell, so if you don't take TOW you're practically screwed in any fight where the other guy does have them.  It even allows the IFV to be a serious threat against an MBT, which is silly.

another huge problem for fixed wing aircraft in BF6 is the fact that the out of bounds line for all aircraft in every map in BF6  is way too small.

Think of how much room we have to operate in aircraft away from objectives on the Sinai Desert map in BF1.  BF6 maps in comparison are amateur hour and are a joke.
