Airspace in maps feels to constrictive.
There’s not much I really have to say, but I do have a few thoughts. I’ve been an avid helicopter enjoyer since Battlefield 4, I’ve probably put in 200 hours of flying on that game + whatever time I put into 2042. It kickstarted my love for aviation in general, and flying in video games is one of my favorite things to do. that being said I have a couple things when it comes to the helicopters in Battlefield 6.
My main concern is about map size, it just feels like you don’t really have much room to maneuver. Maps like liberation peak feel good, but the New York maps just have you flying out of bounds all the time. On top of that, you have 5 seconds to get back inside the zone. If you are flying away trying to avoid missile lock you are bound to fly straight out of the area of play, then you have barely enough time to get back inside. I have died more time than I’m comfortable with due to that. Battlefield 4 did best with map size, and I’m not sure if this is true but the maps just feel so small.
Another minor thing is guided munitions from tanks. It’s not a crippling feature by any means, but when a tank is sitting in spawn all game shooting helicopters out of your spawn it’s quite annoying. I understand the gameplay loop for battlefield, if I’m shot down from somewhere I should get my squad and go track him down and blow him up. But that’s very difficult when, again, the dude is sitting in his spawn.
I don’t believe this issue extends to tow missiles however, they are slow enough that if you catch them heading your way you can easily avoid. That being said said, that would be my tweak to guided munitions. As well as maybe making them less guideable in a way by tuning down how much they can turn.
I don’t believe any of these make or break the game, everything is balanced and still fantastically fun, and the infantry gameplay is incredible. I’m just voicing some of my initial reactions to see if anyone else feels this way.
