Alternative challenges
A lot of people are, quite rightly in my opinion, not satisfied with a number of challenges. Whilst some of this is down to challenges not tracking correctly, a lot of the challenges are suffer from one or more of the following issues:
1) Requires sub-optimal gameplay (e.g inflict 10,000 hip-fire damage with LMGs).
2) Are painful grinds (e.g get 150 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles).
3) Are unattainable to many players (e.g get 30 headshot kills in a match).
Now that the devs are allowing the re-rolling of daily and weekly challenges, I wonder if they would consider alternatives for the persistent challenges. This alternatives could allow alternative methods of completion as well as allowing a choice of either in a single match or over multiple match challenges.
1) Allow for different playstyles but still require a certain performance with the desired weapon/equipment. E.G:
Inflict 10,000 hip-fire damage with LMGs
OR
Get 200 kills over 50m with LMGs
2) Allow for high skill players to bypass excessive grind where they can demonstrate they have the skill they are being challenged on. E.G:
Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles.
OR
Get 5 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles in a match
3) Allow for lower skill players the opportunity to complete challenges with enough effort. E.G:
Get 30 headshot kills in a match.
OR
Get 600 headshot kills.
As a further opportunity, all challenges could require multiple objectives to be met. For example, a challenge could have multiple objectives but only require a certain number to be completed to progress but doing the others could award extra XP for completionists. E.G.
Complete any 2 of the following:
Inflict 10,000 hip-fire damage with LMGs
Get 200 kills over 50m with LMGs
Get 20 kills with LMGs in a match
Get 500 kills with LMGs
All of these numbers or specific challenges are just demonstrative but the point is they offer different ways to unlock a challenge. Obviously they would need to be properly balanced to mitigate exploits and to ensure that players don't blitz through challenges too quickly. The point isn't about making things easier but allowing more options for progression whilst ensuring there are realistic opportunities for completion regardless of skill level by tailoring the challenges accordingly.
