All 3 of the cannons it has are absolutely garbage and need buffed badly, you're basically forced to rely on missiles, and those are easily countered by simply flying low, let alone flares. You either just sit there waiting to kill a stream of poor pilots on repeat in the best case (who would likely crash on their own anyways), or you are an annoyance to skilled pilots and limit their exposure to certain areas. Which is fine, but it also means that you basically won't get any points while doing your role, even if you're doing a good job at it. If you force the enemy pilots to barely play or you'll kill them, you're doing a great service but you don't end up getting much if that's the case. Like I played a game entirely in AA and got 3 kills, 0 deaths, 12 assists, and finished 27th, that's pretty much how most games go if I play AA for most of it. I was even able to spend most of the game in the center of the map so it was kind of a best case scenario. Their air vehicles weren't able to do anything, the transport heli could get over the first objective before it had to bail because it lost control from being peppered with shells. I forced their attack heli to crash multiple times on their side of the map from control loss from shells. I wasn't credited for any of the attack heli downs just some minor points for a forced crash and the only actual air kills were from 1 person in the transport heli refusing to bail twice. It doesn't even seem like the game gives you points for vehicle damage in AA. Maybe it does but it's extremely tiny even if it does. AA is just so unrewarding, and they made it more useless to infantry and other vehicles even than it used to be in previous titles as well, so now you can't even really do anything there either.
