Casual Breakthrough is *not* the actual answer to PVE fans

While some may enjoy it more than pure PVP, it is still ultimately a PVP mode, just with an incredibly limited map selection. This mode is clearly not supposed to be a mode anyone actually plays, it's a barely expanded version of Breakthrough Initiation to funnel people into actual PVP.

About two weeks ago EA_Shepard posted in the steam forums saying that EA is listening to PVE players who wanted a more casual experience, if this is EA listening then EA is deaf. This is, at best, barely a half measure with minimum effort. At this point the single best solution EA could have would be to bring back Coop mode from 2042 the way it is now. Let us pick a map and mode grab up to 3 friends, and play with reduced XP, it's all a lot of us were doing with Portal anyways.

  • My experience in this mode has been awful, for 2 reasons.

I couldn't play it this morning because it needs 8 humans to start, and my region is a low player count region.

And when I did play it last night, almost everyone on the enemy team were absolute sweats. Why would I subject myself to that on top of the bots already having the aim equivalent to an average player. Let alone the fact that bots are most buggy in Breakthrough than on Conquest.

Give us back Portal Verified Modes with bot backfill and FULL XP. Including bot FULL XP in Official Matchmaking.

This mode is great idea I played it a few times. Sad you still get mega sweat lords cod slip and slide boiis 97% of the time.

Needs more maps a new modes. But other then that I do enjoy it. Great for testing setups and just chilling if you can deal with the sweats. Truly not that hard.

BTW I have noticed that packet loss and Dsync is not that bad. When I shoot they die. Except the real players sometimes still takes a full mag to down them. Hit markers hit markers.

What I've noticed is the casual breakthrough is not for casual players, It's filled with sweats trying to get easy unlocks against bots.

  • Thank you EA for at least trying to solve a problem but Casual Breakthrough is still broken. If you want a casual game it should be a Human team against Bots not half a human team on each side backfilled with bots - That's just a slim down version of Breakthrough? I was pleased that they introduced this mode as I hoped it would be somewhere that my son could actually load into to just experience the game with no spiteful sweats farming and spoiling it for him. Unfortunately they did not get it right.

This is how it should be: It doesn't need to be a main screen title mode but make it available through a portal code.

    1. Half the XP available but give a (safe environment for new/young players) to try new weapons and learn the game.
    2. .Human Team of players against Bots - (that would stop the "sweats" praying on new players and ruining their game).
    3. No vehicles on Street Maps/Infantry only. (Have another portal specifically for vehicle combat practice).

I now this sounds simple but its all some people want to do and if they have paid the money, they should be able to play in peace and how they want. Not all of us can spend 24/7 running, jumping and playing the game like tw**s. We just want somewhere to relax and and have some fun for a few hours.

Hope this hasn't been to long a comment but I do think a lot of people would like something like this.

  • DICE and their followers are going around threads and saying, "Play Casual Breakthrough, this is exactly what you wanted."
Of course Casual Breakthrough is very far from what we’ve been asking for it. But DICE seems determined to make this their "final answer" to PvE players. This is not good...

PvP isn't even fun anymore because of all the glitches: you can't get out of the map and onto roofs you normally can't even get to. And that's not even mentioning people using aimbot and wallhack, and casual breakthrough is fun, but PvE like in BF 2042 is better, so it stays fun for everyone. EA and Dice took away the experience for weapons and missions and let us keep the normal experience, but if you ask me, they should give it back and change a lot of things in the portal, like removing unlimited ammo and no-reload so you can actually get ammo from your support teammates, bots, or real players, just like in PvP.

We want PvE, not a half-baked mix of PvP and PvE. We just want to play solo or with a maximum of three other friends against bots. In my opinion, I really thought EA and Dice would bring PvE to BF6, since it was already a huge success in BF 2042.

  • 100% correct. I only play PVE with a friend of mine who is older and I myself, haven't enjoyed PVE in Battlefield since BF1. The sweaty try hards and streamers have made casual play unbearable, and the progression is clearly designed for people who make playing this their full-time job. I only played 2042 in its solo or co-op mode and wouldn't have even bought it if it didn't have it. I even held off on buying BF6 until I could confirm that either there was a solo/co-op mode with progression, or I could make one in portal, only for them to completely nuke XP in portal with bots then remove the option to even set up games with them after I purchased the game. I couldn't even play the game I wanted for nearly two weeks because of the global server quota on portal.

Part of the marketing for this game and its portal mode was "Battlefield Play your way". Well Dice, EA, my way is by myself or with a small group of friends for a casual game night for a couple hours once or twice a week. I am an adult and a professional in my field with a family and responsibilities. I don't not have the time nor inclination to waste in an activity that I am not enjoying, especially one that had a feature that I enjoyed, removed because the devs didn't account for people abusing XP farms. Which by the way, is exactly what happened in 2042. You would think that they would have remembered that and devised a better solution....

I am very disappointed with the way this has been handled thus far. There has been very little information on this from the devs. I did see EA_Shepard's post on steam as well and it appears their solution was to introduce a "Casual Breakthrough" mode that is still PVP with randoms. I truly feel robbed by Dice and EA. All of us who bought the game for PVE modes alone were swindled, a classic bait and switch. Don't even get me started on EA going private with Saudi backed money. I will definitely be thinking twice before buying another product from EA or its studios in the future.

Fool me once, shame on you...

  • Agreed, this mode does not replace the ability to use PvE bots in Portal. We still want bots back in portal, and with XP, mission credits and weapon progression. In other words, we want the same friggen game as the PvP players get only without the competitiveness. PvP can make some people "sick" in their minds and in their hearts.

It's a disease that has leaked into society where too many who participate in it base their feelings of success & failure in life upon their online PvP performance, and others willingness to play it or not. They're, quite frankly, nuts.

Please bring back Portal's pure PvE abilities in full, for those of us who are less demented and more content & confident in who we are as human beings without the need for PvP in our lives .

My entire play time in 2042 was spent in the coop mode. Yes the bots aren't the most intelligent players, yes it was easy to get tons of kills and XP while playing (up to the limit at least), but it was casual fun and I could use the weird guns that weren't perfectly meta, I could try sniping or piloting helos and jets without needing to know how to counter expert players who had years of experience using them, I could just have some dumb fun without needing to be all in all the time. That's all I wanted out of BF6, and it's what I had in BF6 for 11 days after launch before EA rug pulled me.

  • I would welcome the same PVE co-op mode that 2042 had, it's a great place to learn the game and I actually had fun playing it.
