Claymore One-Shots and Movement Nerfs: EA, Be Honest, Not Reactive

The Claymore one-shot kill nerf from two weeks ago has already been effectively reverted. The same pattern happened with movement: sliding and jumping were nerfed in the name of “tactical gameplay,” then partially walked back soon after.

The issue is not whether Claymores or movement should be strong. If EA/DICE believes these mechanics add depth to BF6, they should say so and stand by that design.

Nerfing mechanics to appease complaints, then quietly bringing them back, feels less like balance and more like corporate damage control.

Players need consistency and honest communication, not temporary appeasement.

While appeasement is probably part of it, I think the other is data. For the claymores specifically, I'm fairly sure they noticed how usage immediately dropped drastically after the nerf. Which is an issue as you don't want gadgets that see no use whatsoever.

I understand what you're saying, but in live service, I'm ok with the devs trying something and reverting when that clearly does not pan out. A bit more transparency on the process would be welcome though.

And I'm a lot more bothered by them spending time on stuff no one really saw as the main priority rather than sorting out more fundamental problems.

  • This is what happens when you use AI coding and forget... or just plain don't know how... to write prompts correctly.

It's not that they weren't wanting to communicate, they just don't know what is happening in their game.  Communications is it's own team in EA.  It's not one of the devs sitting there writing out patch notes.  The devs don't even know they're pushing a bad update until it's out, and then the AI has already deleted all the historical data so they can't just press undo.

It's modern amateur coding.  It's in every game now.
