Concerns About the Unlocked Weapon System and Impact on Team-Based Gameplay

Battlefield has always stood out from other shooters because of its large-scale, team-based gameplay. The essence of the Battlefield experience is squads working together, playing the objective, and combining their class roles to win.

The proposed unlocked weapon system risks undermining that core identity. Without role restrictions, we could see full squads of Engineers, Support, and Recon all camping with sniper rifles, beacons, PLDs, IGLAs, guided missiles — plus access to Medic and Ammo supplies — on wide open maps. This setup offers them endless gear and survivability, but removes any incentive to play the objective.

In large-scale matches, this could result in:

• Squads avoiding frontline engagement, focusing only on kills.
• Overuse of high-impact weapons across multiple classes, creating balance issues.
• A breakdown of role specialization, where class identity is lost and teamwork is replaced by lone-wolf camping.

Part of what makes Battlefield unique is the necessity of teamwork: medics reviving, engineers repairing, support resupplying, and recon providing intel. When everyone can carry everything, those natural interdependencies — the heartbeat of Battlefield — risk disappearing.

Please consider ways to preserve class balance and role identity so the unlocked weapon system doesn’t dilute the team-focused gameplay that makes Battlefield special.
