Dropping player counts can be blamed on weapon sights players can't trust

PC player here: looks like the ADS dispersion tune was to give us 1-2 more bullets that landed where our sight was. then the bullet spread values remained unchanged after that. still the same goofy max dispersion.

what they can do is decrease the max dispersion, but increase the max real recoil, so their desired cone of fire stays essentially the same size, but the sight will better reflect what's actually happening.

im convinced battlefield 6 could have retained 100% more players than it has if they didnt even build the gunplay off of this ADS bullet spread ideology. that's why battlefield has always been backseat to CoD. gamers dont need RNG when we are ADS.

RedSec is just warzone but with weapon sights you can only trust your first 2 or 3 bullets with. a real crap shoot after that. you'd think hundreds of thousands of PC players would be hopping on a quality f2p game like Battlefield RedSec, but the RNG gunplay is seriously embarrassing and tone deaf.

if this is the best way Battlefield Studios can come up with to balance various classes of weapons, i think id be happier playing if they just kept the blooming crosshair when we went ADS. it'd be so much easier to tell when our weapons are accurate and when they are not.

it sucks having to take your eyes off the target to pay attention to tracers and make sure they're not exiting the barrel at a 20 degree angle.

it sucks having to wonder after all these updates how guns will handle since you can't even trust the sight.

  • also would like to note the 1.1.2 patch decreased FPS by about 10 percent on my 4090/9800x3d

  • No need to make up imaginary reasons for dropping player counts. Games naturally lose players over time and Battlefield  6 has a very shallow decline, which indicates that the game is actually doing extremely well at retaining players. That doesn't mean the game is perfect and they certainly could have done things better. However, when you look at the major complaints that people have, spread isn't one of them. It's mostly the netcode, lack of large maps, the way they handled portal/bots and the fast pacing of the game.

The vast majority of first person shooters have spread, that includes competitive games Counterstrike and Valorant. Spread is necessary to make sure that guns aren't complete laser beams when you're able to compensate for the recoil. Whether you hit your shots isn't random. You can burst or tap fire your gun to ensure that spread doesn't build up.
