Empire State is bad

I HATE Empire State. I'm sure the design was well thought out but the fact that there's SO MANY OBJECTS means I go entire games not understanding where the enemy is and I die A LOT on this map.
Half the time I'm shooting teammates running around corners.
I dunno, maybe it is the design being so uppity downity lefty righty criss cross applesauce but the sheer visual clutter does not help.

Big fan of the other 3 maps.

One of the worst maps dice has created imo!It just feels very not battlefield somehow, like a little stressful shoebox for adhd people to play in.

  • Having had more time to digest, I think honestly it's because it's so interconnected. Older battlefield games even when in confined spaces had more space to move around and set up. Like in BF4 the mountainside bunker was a good map because you could usually tell where the bulk of the enemy team is.
In this map, are they above you, below you, behind you, in the room over and therefore behind your team?
And then you get into the light effect when looking into the dark or changing from inside to outside. Visibility in this game is already so difficult with literally everything generating smoke and on this map it's like well F me I guess I'll just pluck my eyes out since I clearly don't need them.
Just left a match because no thank you I don't play sweaty just to do it. We were capturing E, beginning of the game, and a guy ran from their spawn up the stairs and popped me with the shotgun. Ok fair enough, first time defending that spot, didn't know the stairs were that wide. That's on me.
But in 5 minutes we never captured the point because the other team swept through the other objectives and all accumulated on E. My team was fighting on the stairs when at least 5 people came from behind us. I saw them and was trying to engage but due to the inside/outside nature and the fact that there are NO VOICE COMS OR ANY REAL COMMUNICATION WITH YOUR TEAM, it was just me, and I was getting shot from pitch black on my screen from an extremely sharp angle from the room by the stairs, and there were enemies coming from the glass room on the left, so we were going to be overrun again. Meanwhile my entire team were still looking at the stairs because I can't tell them "hey enemies in these rooms below."

I feel this would be a great Call of Duty or even Ready or Not map, but NOT battlefield. It does not play to Battlefield's strengths at all, which is WAR, not just arena fighting.

Hoping this beta is being used to test player enjoyment as well, as it looks like they are emphasizing a certain playstyle, but  PLEASE PLEASE EA do not let the entire game be large scale CoD. I hate CoD.

  • It’s also gotta be the record holder for the smallest map. I can’t believe these are the maps they’re trying to showcase their game with. This game is trash. Three failures in a row.
