Fair Crossplay and the Need for Better Anti-Cheat

Hello Battlefield 6 developers,

The technical state of the Battlefield 6 beta is really good — it’s in better shape than many other games even after their full release, which deserves praise.

I’m not generally a supporter of crossplay, but if it’s going to be in the game, it must be optional and truly fair for both sides. The only way crossplay can be truly fair is by allowing console players to use mouse and keyboard and compete with PC players on the same inputs.

Playing on a gamepad is no longer fair these days due to strong aim assist and especially due to the abuse of devices like Cronus, which mask mouse and keyboard inputs as a “gamepad”.

Since Cronus can be used on both consoles and PC, it disadvantages both sides. That’s why it’s essential to have a quality anti-cheat system capable of detecting and blocking such devices to maintain fairness.

For maximum fairness, crossplay should either allow only mouse and keyboard on both platforms, or separate gamepad players from mouse and keyboard players — with an anti-cheat that can detect and block Cronus and similar devices.
