Feedback on movement mechanics and shooting

Hello,

I’ve been part of the Battlefield community for years, and I wanted to share direct feedback about the feel and pacing of Battlefield 6. The current gameplay balance feels noticeably faster and more arcade-like compared to traditional Battlefield entries.

Movement mechanics such as jump-shooting, slide-spamming, and sprint-to-fire transitions make engagements resemble Call of Duty more than Battlefield. This reduces the tactical, weighty, and team-oriented gameplay that has always defined the series.

I’d strongly encourage a review of:

  • Jump / air-fire accuracy penalties
  • Sprint-to-fire and ADS recovery speed
  • Slide acceleration and chaining
  • Slightly longer time-to-kill (TTK) to reward squad tactics and suppression

Slowing combat rhythm just a little would restore that deliberate, immersive tone that made earlier Battlefield titles (like BF3, BF4, and BF1) unique and deeply satisfying.

Thank you for listening — many of us want to see Battlefield keep its identity rather than chase trends that make every FPS feel the same.

The COD "drop shot" definitely needs to be sorted out... "Let me just jump onto my back and have no ADS or aim penalty so I can spray the guy 60m's away that had the drop on me 100%"...

I really like in Hell Let Loose how to get up from prone is SLOW and takes a second before player can be back to a full sprint...

Great point! HLL should be a model for tactical shooters, not COD. Make movement and decisions mean something again devs. We’re not asking for a HLL clone, but we don’t want a COD clone either.

  • I think they have succes for a reason. This is fun for CoD players also. Doubt it will change much.

But i agree with the points. It is not feeling like an old style BF.

For sure - I miss that old school tactical vibe of BF, especially 2, 3 and bad company. Just want to see the game keep its soul. Capitalism has a way of eventually ruining everything it touches.

Indeed, it feels faster, but that's objectively not because of the movement. So the premise is flawed.

What do you think the issue is? Genuinely curious and asking.

In terms of movement, Battlefield 6 is significantly slower than Battlefield 4, V and 2042. It is also more penalized in terms of spread and weapon sway. Yet it feels faster, because you're more often forced into situations where you have to react fast. There are multiple reasons for this, but map design is the most important one.

Where Battlefield 2042 had too little cover and extremely long engagement distances, Battlefield 6 is the exact opposite, with tons of cover and short engagement distances. To be more specific, it's the insanely large amount of angles that an enemy can engage you at, combined with the number of entry points to a given area.

If you take a map like Iberian Offensive, Manhattan Bridge, Empire State or New Sobek City, they all offer tight alleyways, really small rooms with multiple entry points and tons of verticality. A few other issues that contribute to this, is the lack of proper footstep sounds, the lack of proper interior lighting and the lack of Recon players that are willing to play in a CQB role.

So you often lack the ability to gather the information that is necessary to determine where the enemy is, before they are able to engage you. The result is that you're often surrounded before you know it and you're forced into chaotic close quarter battles where enemies can come from multiple directions.

That's also why slower movement isn't going to help you. It's going to make the problems worse. You're still going to be surrounded, but the slower movement will also make it harder for you to respond on time. The constant comparisons to CoD don't help either. They are based on feelings, not facts. In terms of movement Battlefield is nothing like CoD. If anything Battlefield V was significantly closer to the movement of CoD than Battlefield 6 is.

Holy fk an actual decent cogent take without reverting to just calling it cod.  Nice one ghostflux. Just because a game has slide mechanics doesn't mean its cod, its something that is being added everywhere because it is a natural evolution of fps gaming as games can offer players more and more movement control without bogging down game engine.  Yes it can get ramped up too much with some games allowing players to just skate around and bounce off the walls but that's not the case here.

Yes indeed the movement has been slowed down from recent previous bf games, and that's not a complaint I'm just saying what it is.   Sliding, diving and jump chaining all have more significant penalties in bf6 as well. I also agree that map design is the compounding factor that leads to these poor experiences.
