Footstep sound is barely ever something you can even hear, because every other sound in the game drowns it out, regardless of the distance of that sound. Yet footstep sounds are important to gameplay. Please fix A.S.A.P. In other words, sounds that are close to you should be given a significant boost even if it's not the most realistic.
not only footsteps. sometimes theres is no sound of tanks, weapon firing, heli. its rendering random sounds when there is a lot of stuff going on
It seems like sometimes you can hear the footsteps, but then a louder, random sound completely drowns them out.
And when I say completely, I mean even if they're right on top of you.
I've tried all the audio settings and nothing. Very frustrating

All sorts of sounds go missing all over the place, like these new super silent electric tanks.
The sound is a real mess half the time.
What do you mean? I personally love being destroyed by silent tanks driving a distance less than 2 metres away 😆
Even better, the enemy climbing with the rappel rope to the building and not hear a single noise at the top 😃
But the electric tanks are cool too
If it's not completely silent, there are no footsteps at all.
I have the same issue as well. Had to turn on a loudness equalization filter and modified the EQ so that the lows basically don't exist for me to even hear the footsteps. When I do, the direction of them is basically mono and have no idea where they are coming from.
Comparing this to 2042, I can pinpoint someone withing like 50 feet of me with no modification to the audio.
In Battlefield 2042 footstep sounds are excellent, perhaps even a little too strong. I could play almost purely by sound as everyone was sprinting.
In my opinion footstep sounds should be loud enough, that it matters whether you sprint, walk or crouch walk.
Sprinting should definitely give your position away from a significant distance. It should be at a distance where the enemy is still able to react.
Walking should be much quieter, but still audible at a shorter range, if there aren't any other sounds masking it. Crouch walking should be near inaudible, except when it's quiet and you're almost hugging opponent.
Also having this issue, tried different settings in Windows and in game without success, anyone with any solution?
