Straight on, or at at angle? Now it matters a lot.
And then, in what server? Because the person who makes a server can adjust damage and vehicle health. - vx_firedragon_xv21 hours agoSeasoned Traveler
in a standard public server. straight into the back door. 4 straight shots did less than 500 damage.

Okay, but a verified-mode server is a standard public server that a person can adjust those weights. They can be featured and appear like any other server, but behave different. So, is it a matchmake server or a verified-mode server that appears similar to a matchmake server?
And, again, at what angle? If you hit straight-on to the rear, the damage should have been way higher than that. But at an angle, yes, the damage drops a lot, The theory is that the metal, at an angle, is effectively thicker or creates more force to cause the projectile to glance. Before, tanks were too easy to take out. They are trying to balance things to make things more skill-based and reduce fast kills.

matchmake, far as i know. unless costume servers are in the rotation. does custom search include player made servers? if it does thats news to me.

Critical hit to the back weak point is 3 shots. Sounds like they had a engi repairing them or you took too long to get the 3rd shot off and auto regen kicked... which shouldn't exist to begin with but I digress.

That would the most likely. Minimum for a shot in the rear straight on should 460, autoregen kicking in would reset the counter, so it’d feel like they only hit for around 500.

it was three shots as fast as i could reload. three direct hits to the middle of the back hatch. the first hit was the most accurate perfectly straight on did 146 i think, dead center middle. next two were slightly angled i dont remember the number totals but it could have been much. bottom line this games a GD joke. helicopters and planes are nearly impossible to shoot out of the sky. now tanks are nearly impossible to kill. you have to have an entire team to kill one vehicle, its fling stupid.

Nerfed!!!

So that is just plain weird, the minimum damage for an RPG in the rear, at an angle, is 230.
Of note, I still quite regularly kill tanks. It’s very hard if they have nothing else to focus on, but I’d argue that’s how it should be. But you can still take them on by yourself as long as they’re preoccupied by something else - like gunning down team mates and flattening an obj in front of them. Easiest way I found is one acoustic mine plus two shots in the back, that can go VERY fast.

If it only did 146, then it didn't hit the actual weak point. I will say, the game is incredibly inconsistent with critical hits because even if you're at the slightest angle, despite visually your rocket hits the back, the game registers it as a side hit because the game is poorly coded when it comes to weak point consistency on tanks.
RPG critical hit will be 400 something and the numbers will pop up red instead of white.
