FPS Drop After 2–3 Matches (Possible Resource Leak)
Platform: PC (Windows 11, EA App)
Specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
- GPU: AMD RX 6600 XT (Adrenalin 25.9.xx, undervolt -100 mV)
- RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz (2×8)
- Motherboard: MSI A320M A PRO MAX
- Storage: SSD
- OS: Windows 11 24H4
Issue Description:
After playing Battlefield 6 for 2–3 consecutive matches, my FPS consistently drops from ~80–90 FPS down to 35–50 FPS. This only occurs after multiple games, not on the first match.
- During the first 1–2 matches:
- CPU usage is 90–100%, temperature around 85–95°C, clock speeds >4.5 GHz.
- GPU power draw is ~110W, GPU usage ~95–99%, FPS stable above 75–85 even in crowded fights.
- Starting from the 3rd match:
- CPU usage drops below 80% while temps and clock speeds remain the same (~85°C, >4.5 GHz).
- GPU power draw drops to ~70–80W, but GPU usage still shows 95%+.
- FPS drops significantly to 35–50.
- In the lobby, GPU power usage returns to ~110W, but once the next match starts, it stays limited again (~70–80W).
Workaround:
Restarting the game (without restarting the PC) restores normal FPS and GPU wattage for another 1–2 matches before the problem happens again.
Notes:
- This is not thermal throttling since CPU temps and clocks remain stable.
- Looks like a possible memory/shader cache leak or driver/game resource issue since GPU usage is reported high but actual performance is degraded.
- Similar issues have been reported on BF2042 with AMD drivers, so this may be related.
Request:
Please investigate if there is a resource/memory leak in Battlefield 6 that causes GPU to downscale wattage and performance after multiple matches. Any workaround or driver/game patch would be appreciated.
