Gun XP Fully Removed from Portal

As the title says, I confirmed with support. They have decided instead of reduced XP (which I was fine with), they have removed all gun XP from portal.

1- This was done with 0 public announcement, which is both shady and  bad customer service.

2- This is a violation of the promise made when the game was presented to us. There are people who like to play the game with friends or solo.

3- It makes the current problem in multi-player worse. To expand, you have players that were able to BOT farm and have FULLY unlocked weapons capable of outperforming anyone who doesn't have unlocked guns. This creates two classes of players; The people who are now fully leveled guns and the people who don't have those guns that are going to lose to them because they have increased control and accuracy on weapons you can't get. With this XP change, instead of giving people the ability to play the game and level up guns to a point where they are competitive, you've removed that ability, basically limiting the player base to those players that will have fun with their unlocked guns, and everyone else that will just die over and over to those players.

This change needs to be reversed.

  • I didn't put a number 4 - but with the hackers currently able to cheat in the anti-cheat. It's also nice to play without dealing with those people.

  • Agreed. I fired up the EA App and then learned about them basically killing Portal... I then turned off my computer with no plans on getting back in BF6 till this change is reverted.

I played on normal bot servers I made through the Portal website... the problem servers are the ones created using the SDK tools. They should discontinue the SDK tools, limit it's functionality or whatever can be done to stop people from making XP Farms, not screw over those like myself playing normal PVE.

  • This is a really bad decision by EA. A lot of casual players are not able to spend so much time in the game to grind these ridiculous level up requirements!

Getting a fair boost up to your weapon attachments by levelling them in a portal game was evening the playing field against the players that have already done this. Now they remove our ability to do this, which is going to lead to a lot of unbalanced matches with players that are using base-level guns and people that are farming them with top-tier attachments.

With the amount of bugs and  issues this game has, EVEN AFTER THEIR HUGE BETA, you would think they would be concentrating on fixing the issues that are ruining the game instead of adding more!

  • For many of us it is as simple as cancelling or EA Pro membership. Others may try to contact their CC for a Chargeback including also contacting Steam and others.

While the act of farming in itself can be problematic; it is not cheating nor is it an exploit. If people want to level up their guns against bots who you programmed; then why doubt the adequacy and capability of them? Or just straight away tell us that your Bots are so trash that it is unreasonable to give XP to those playing against them which btw also applies to 'main' servers as they too may often get filled with bots to have a complete game. What nonsense.

    * Yes I am posting it on all discussions about the topic as I would like to engage and upvote all of these.

  • Fully agree with this is a shame because now I can’t even play a proper horror, core server and not even get XP for it. This is BS. Wish I could return the game. Why can’t we just take things from battlefield four and reuse them there is nothing wrong with that
