I’d like to emphasize the importance of having Hardcore as a dedicated, standalone preset—not something that’s only accessible through Portal.
While Portal offers flexibility, it also leads to countless variations of Hardcore settings. This dilutes the experience and prevents a unified standard, unlike the consistent Hardcore mode we had in BF3 and BF4.
A standardized Hardcore preset is essential. Core elements like reduced health, no health regeneration, and the absence of a minimap are fundamental to the experience. These features shouldn’t be left to individual interpretation—they should be officially defined.
My recommendation is to implement Hardcore as an official preset. Players can still customize it within Portal if they choose, but having a baseline ensures consistency across the community.
Personally, Hardcore mode was the only way I played BF3 and BF4. Its presence—or absence—is a deciding factor in whether I purchase the game.
