How are people with 120+ lag on top of scoreboards?

I'm trying to understand how this is possible. I have to play with 65ms on average myself, as servers in my own region are dead, and it very much feels like a heavy handicap. But somehow I very regul...

    The reason for it is that shots are registered client-side, so an aggressive high ping player can peek around a corner and shoot you before it registers on your screen. It's a know advantage of high ping players to play aggressively, or the advantage doesn't work. That's why as a low ping player, it seems like an aggressive high ping player has already killed you before you can even react and hence they get top scoreboard placements.
