I really hope to see classic BF1 and BFV weapons in BF6

Hi everyone,

I know BF6 is expected to be a modern-day setting, but I really hope they include some "legacy weapons" from BF1 and BFV.

What I’d specifically love to see is the ability to "modernize" these classic weapons—adding modern scopes, rails, or suppressors to things like the Kar98k or StG 44. I think it would be incredibly cool to customize these historical icons with current-day attachments.

Of course, I understand that implementing these might be a challenge for the dev team. It must be difficult to balance the stats so they fit into the modern meta without breaking the immersion or world-building. I truly appreciate the effort it takes to make these things work.

I just feel that having these "relics" with modern upgrades would add so much depth and personality to the game.

What do you guys think? Would you enjoy using a "modernized" BF1/BFV weapon, or do you prefer keeping them strictly historical?

Goagoa1207 I completely agree with you. A return of older weapons would be amazing.

I know the game is set in a modern era, but there’s nothing stopping them from introducing these weapons through a special event or even a dedicated season inspired by BF1 or BFV. Honestly, that would be really exciting and would bring a lot of variety to the game.

They already brought back the M1 Garand in Battlefield 2042 with the Iwo Jima map, and honestly, I thought it worked really well. It fit the atmosphere perfectly and added a strong retro/legacy vibe to the experience.

Personally, I’d love to see the return of the M1 Garand—it’s one of my favorite weapons in the franchise. The M1A1 would also be a great addition.

I think there’s definitely a way to include these kinds of weapons in a modern setting. It just comes down to how they’re integrated into the game’s context and design.

That’s a great point! I agree that bolt-action rifles like the SMLE or Kar98k would be much easier to integrate as precision tools without breaking the meta. Using a classic action with a high-powered modern optic sounds like a dream. Even if they are slightly outclassed in fire rate, the 'one-shot potential' and the style factor would make them so rewarding to use.

Adding to that, looking at the current weapon stats in BF6, it seems DICE balances damage based on caliber and ammo size. This makes me realize that it might be technically difficult to tune non-SR weapons—like the StG 44 or MP40—without making them either too weak or accidentally overpowered compared to modern platforms. Since SRs have that consistent "high-damage" identity regardless of the era, they really do feel like the perfect candidates for this kind of modernization.

  • I think it's a nice idea, I really like it. Admittedly, though, I'm not sure how workable it'd be when it comes to balancing them, like you mention. I'm just not certain how they'd measure up with modern weapons, even with modernisations, but that's largely based on what Dice were concerned about when they added some older guns to BF2042.

However, thinking about it, I could definitely see it being workable as sniper rifles. It'd be quite cool to use an SMLE with some modern optics and things. They might be outclassed by modern guns still, but probably not as badly as you could play them with more range.
