Do you remember that magical time before the game's release, when the creators talked about returning to the roots of Battlefield, making fun of Call of Duty and their skins, and what we finally got...
It has returned in most ways with the game-play etc and skins are skins, it's players expressing and some like it, some do not. It's all personal taste and there is only sooooo many skins in the same outfit just different colours we can do and have before it's a repeat.
Pretty sure, if they made, red, yellow, blue of the same skin, people would complain saying "It's the same just different colours" so it is limited in context and design what can be done.
Hence the, make sure there is a setting to disable these custom skins for players who do not like them and prefer the normal boots on the ground basic colour approach, which works for them. The others who purchase some glowing skin keep funding the game with purchasing skins they want and like, it's win win for both sides.
Also COD is a very very different game, it's an arcade style shooter in the same realm as Counter Strike
