Initiation was for more than just abusers.

I cannot begin to describe the insurmountable feeling of anger & disappointment today when I powered on my console & did a beeline str8 to BF6, only to realize the very VERY last option, which held any shred of enjoyment left for myself was removed. I am referring to "Breakthrough Initiation." I am completely baffled how you can be given a game and then it can be taken away.  I am being 1000% sincere, honest & genuine here. If I had any other viable option in your game I would happily take it and play it. I have explored every crack, crevice & cranny, in terms of various modes & gameplay in BF6. The bottom line is, I just don't have what it takes. And whatever "it" is...well it's never going to come.

I have been playing FPS games since the inception of Doom, so you'd think I'd be remarkable at all of them, but it is not the case. From Doom to N-64's 007 Goldeneye to Counterstrike on PC to all the different releases of BF & COD, Duke Nuke'em, all the Tom Clancy's, Halo.....I've owned them all and played them all.  I've watched and played FPS throughout its evolution. But BF6...I just cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

I am not looking for sympathy or empathy. I don't need anyone to tell me to "get good" or "get locked in," or "uninstall." I put forth an effort with every bit & shred of focus & power I could possibly give to try to eliminate opponents in matches made entirely of actually players and I cannot for the life of me, I repeat CANNOT kill more than 3-5 players per game. I am always always ALWAYS at the 30-32 position and that is during 20-40 minutes of gameplay. If you don't believe me, check my stats, it will speak for itself. I am not referring to my stats from playing "Breakthrough Initiation," I am referring to ANYTHING outside of it. If I play smaller games I only get eliminated faster. If i camp, I sit & wait FOREVER & rarely see any players & when I do engage in the occasional skirmish I still lose the confrontation, even after shooting them in the back. If I run around, throwing caution to the wind, I just get eliminated even faster. If I approach the game strategically I just get shot in the back or side or by a sniper.

The most INFURIATING aspect of all, is when I am engaged in a 1 on 1, and we both notice each other simultaneously. I think I've managed to eliminate 1 player once. 99.9% of the time I never NEVER EVER get one single SOLITARY bit of a shot off or create any damage to my opponents. Meanwhile I get hit with 4 different points of damage. Elimination is just instantaneous. They never miss and all I do is miss. This is NOT an exaggeration. I am not blowing anything out of proportion. If you access my video game play library it's above and beyond painfully clear I am speaking truthfully.

Besides trying other methods of gameplay, I have tried changing EVERYTHING to gain some type of edge, improvement or advantage. I have tried various approaches to make the game more enjoyable to give myself some kind of a fair chance, but still, no change. I've tried mixing up the attachments & firearms as well as the classes. I've tried practicing in the shooting range. I've tried adjusting preferences in the options to try to improve aiming & other various details in the gameplay settings. I've tried resetting & adjusting my router & internet settings (I have a consistent 420mbps connection). I've tried readjusting my television settings. I have tried watching YouTube videos to figure out what I am doing in wrong in the hopes of getting some pointers or tips. I have tried adjusting my approach to trigger methods according to the so-called "bloom" issue, specifically, tapping the trigger once, tapping it in succession and just holding it down. I have tried taking to Chat-GPT to get help. I have looked into other various forms of social media or Internet resources, (reddit, X, Quora, ask.com, ect) for pointers. I have even tried reflex exercises outside of the game and I am telling you NOTHING changes for me.

So I had to come to the conclusion that there was nothing left for me to do. I was on the verge of trading in BF6 or just shelving it in my collection in hopes that the new COD might have something fun for me to do (even tho I can't stand the game) and in a last ditch effort, I discovered under training "Breakthrough Initiation," (a god sent). I was under the impression "training" was just for understanding the mechanics of controller gameplay & how to do objectives and so on. I did not know they're was an actual mode players could engage in.  Once I discovered it, I had found a home. Granted it was only 2 maps which was somwwhat disappointing, but at least I had SOMETHING. It was the perfect setting for me, and im sure it was the same for many MANY other players like myself. I understand it was meant to be temporary, but you inadvertently gave casual players, new players, older players and all types of other struggling players, like myself, a place to feel safe with playing, without being absolutely demolished, dismantled & destroyed to the point where it begins to feel absolutely demoralizing. A place where you don't have to feel humiliated over and over & OVER again & again with no hope for ever having any game mode to enjoy in BF6.

I humbly request, nay pray that you bring back "Breakthrough Initiation," or something similar. It doesn't have to be exactly "Breakthrough Initiation." You could create a different version. If players with high ranks are a concern, which I understand, then make a "Breakthrough Initiation" style mode where 0-30 ranks play only. Rank 30-60 play only. And 60 and above only. It is only a suggestion. Trust me, I honestly can see the concerns from EA's perspective. I encountered plenty of players going 149-2 in "Breakthrough Initiation," and these players were simply there to abuse the game mode. However, it seems a little extreme to remove a game mode entirely, because of a few unscrupulous players.

I normally never would go on a forum, let alone post anything or even moreso leave a complaint. But I am BEGGING you PLEASE. Look at my stats. PLEASE. Go and take a look at how unenjoyable it was for me whenever I played in a game entirely made of real players. It was absolutely pointless. I repeat, whenever I entered a game comprised of real players only, I could NOT get out of the 30-32 position. I averaged 3-5 kills per game and thats throughout 20-40 minute gameplay. I put forth my best foot and gave it 100% each and every single time I played & it never made a difference.

There are no words to describe the level of how infuriating & upsetting it is to truly want to have fun and enjoyment out of game and CANNOT get a single solitary shred out of it. And instead it is just becomes something that makes players like myself COMPLETELY MISERABLE. The only thing left now for me is to shelve it or sell it. And the whole reason I bought PS plus was for BF6. So youve managed to remove a player entirely from their console by taking out a game mode that should've just been left alone. I know I am not alone. I saw tons of other struggling players like myself in Breakthrough Initiation. Most of the time we could barely kill bots, let alone the other 8 players that were in that game mode. But it was something. Now we have nothing.

  • Initiation is certainly absolutely useless as a 'beginners' mode.

It needs some SBMM to stop high rank bot-farmers going in or they may as well remove it.

The game has some problems, those problems are the servers, the pings, and the hackers.
So to get around all this, some NASA scientists invented the initiation breakthrough, just to be no different from other NASA scientists at Activision who, with those bot modes, pushed players into hoping for Battlefield.
Is everything clear so far? Does it make sense?
    OK
Now let's talk about your gameplay.
We've all been there. Our stats, a decade ago, only spoke negatively.
We died from anything, even 1-30k d.
So I started playing with friends. They revived you, so your stats didn't go down. Playing with others makes you push yourself to do more, and sometimes you kill 5-7 players without even realizing what you're doing.
If you're alone, try playing under cover, take advantage of every cover.
    Don't be afraid.
Sooner or later, your satisfaction will come.

playing with bots won't help you
