Introductions and BF6 expectations

I thought now may be a good time, with the reveal of Battlefield 6, to start fresh and open a new chapter. I’d like to start off with a quick introduction of myself and what my expectations for Battlefield 6 are.

Feel free to do the same!

My name is Vincent AKA Sawtooth75 and my Battlefield story began with playing the campaign of BFBC on PS3, followed by BF1942, BFBC2 and BF3. It was only with BF4 in 2013 that I actually started playing Multiplayer, which opened the door to the Battlefield community for me.

At some point I started spending more time on the Battlefield forums, where I eventually became part of an early form of EA Game Changer program and started as a volunteer moderator in the Battlefield forums. After doing that for a while, I took over as host for FridayNightBattlefield for Playstation Europe from Lee Williams, running the event in BF1. This became the highlight of my Battlefield ‘career’, where I found more friends than I ever imagined possible. No doubt some of you earned their FNB dog tag in one of my weekly FNB events on PS4😃. After a marginally disappointing BFV and an immensely disappointing start of BF2042, I decided it was enough and walked away from the Battlefield franchise and community.

So what am I expecting from Battlefield 6? To be honest I don’t fully know yet. In a way I’m hoping for a game very similar to Battlefield 4, but at the same time I don’t know if that’s a realistic expectation or more coming from sentiment. I like the modern setting, the boots on the ground experience, the gritty style. I prefer a game that is not too vehicle heavy, balanced but leaning more towards infantry play. I like a varied experience, playing on big open maps, but also on urban maps all the way down to small linear infantry only maps. My favorite game mode used to be domination, although I probably spent most of my time in the well known conquest meat grinders. I’m a completionist, so I really like to have a broad selection of weapons and assignments/awards to work on. I’m not a fan of ridiculous skins, I prefer a game grounded in a military setting.

I guess we will know soon if the game is going to tick all the right boxes.

    I believe it's a lively game.
Also, like in BF1, we'll come and steal your dog tags.

  • RanzigeRidder here 👋 My battlefield carreer started with the OG Battlefield 1942 on PC somewhere in 2003. At the time I also started the OG Call of Duty where I would play BF1942 for the multiplayer and CoD for its campaign.

In the meantime I moved from PC to Playstation on which I played games like 007 and Medal of Honor. At that time I was more interested in singleplayer and co-op campaigns. So I also stuck with CoD and played World at War, Modern Warfare 1 & 2. The latter sparked my interest for multiplayer. So when in 2011 Battlefield 3 released I switched back to the Battlefield franchise and got completely hooked. Bought the premium pass to get as much of the experience as possible.

Meanwhile I had gotten 2 colleagues at work who also liked the genre and together we started playing Battlefield 4. And that's when I saw the true potential of teamwork and what BF had to offer. Colleagues became true friends

Together we moved into BF1. Where my completionist side drove me to start collecting as much of the dogtags as possible. So I started participating in FNB to get that dogtag. Which I eventually indeed got from you Sawtooth75 . It was also then and because of the dogtags I stumbled upon the Answers HQ forum. However I was not a very active poster back then.

When BFV was announced, and the whole controversy and especially how some EA/Dice people dealt with that, it made us decide to not pre-order anymore. Eventually we still picked up the game at launch and this was also the time we joined an international clan. Together with fellow Europeans and Americans we had a lot of fun and banter in BFV. Until EA/Dice suddenly pulled the plug after the addition of War in the Pacific, and with that breaking their tides of war promise. Unfortunately it also meant the break-up of our clan, as there was nothing to fill the void. So like many others we started playing Warzone.

Disappointed in the broken promise me and my friends decided to leave BF2042 for what it was. Also because the way they abandoned the classic BF formula with classes and made it into a hero shooter. So no pre-order, no buy at launch. Eventually we picked up the game at a discount more than half a year after launch. As me and my friends all had moved to different jobs and companies we used BF2042 as vehicle to have weekly playsessions to catch up, have a chat and a laugh.
Somehow I also came back to the Answer HQ forums and became a lot more active on those, and here we are now on the new forum.
Whereas my friends have abandoned BF2042 my completionist side kept me playing, and I'm glad that the game improved a lot including the reintroduction of the class system. Does it make it a good Battlefield? No, still the worst entry in the series I've played!

Which brings me to my expectations for Battlefield 6. To avoid disappointment I expect nothing to be honest. From what I've seen and heard so far gives me hope though. Hope that we will get a classic Battlefield that pays tribute to its roots and heyday. What I want and don't want I've already covered in another thread here. Again, I'm not going to pre-order and will wait with buying until after launch. My decision to purchase yes or no will depend heavily on that and what I see and experience from BF Labs, the MP reveal, the open Beta and the final product and its reviews by the community. I have one expectation for Battlefield 6 though, if it fails to deliver it will be the end of my Battlefield carreer and possibly the end of the franchise as a whole. This is your final chance to get it right EA/Dice!

Thanks for that!🙏 I already had to edit the post myself because I noticed after posting some numbers (years) were changed into * and a @ mention was also gone.

  • I mainly play on Xbox so my Gamertag there is Jesse165 as well.

I wasn't there for Battlefield 1942 but I did start playing with Battlefield 2 on a computer so weak it could barely even play the small singleplayer AI Bot matches at the time.

I have played every single Battlefield game since then both online and their Singleplayer and COOP modes.

Will be on Battlefield 6 as well mainly on Conquest Large as either a Medic, Engineer, or Sniper.

  • I have been playing battlefield online since bad company 2 on my mates PlayStation.

I started my own journey with the launch of bf3, I was one of the founders of the eauk forum platoon on the Xbox 360.

Drama with the leader at the time led to that platoon breaking up but from the ashes TBA was born, a thriving platoon where we prided ourselves on showing respect after a knife kill.

The platoon stayed together for a long time before a small number of us moved to pc and new adventures began, we created the platoon again and moved forward to bf4 together.

Bf4 was great but gradually the platoon had less and less active members then I got a bit frustrated with bf4 due to various issues such as futuristic weapons, gadgets and vehicles and the counter knife, I still dabbled in a couple of games a night though but by the end of bf4's life the platoon had basically gone cold with only a handful of active players left.

BF1 was interesting, how would it play?

Turns out it played great, operations were fantastic, my favourite BF1 mode by far.

This is where life happened family etc and I started playing solo alot, playing in random squads with random people was always random, had some really good games in good squads.

BFV never really hit home for me, there were so many things I didn't like, it didn't give me a ww2 vibe, animations got out of control, map clutter got really bad, the gunplay felt bad, it just wasn't as fun, but battlefield is battlefield and I kept playing regardless.

    Then onto 2042.

I have to admit I had fun at launch, it didn't feel like battlefield though but I kept playing it for what it was.

My favourite tactic was hiding in a bush as casper, hovering my drone around me and stabbing people running between flags, it kept me entertained but also highlighted one of the things I hated most about 2042, the terrible takedowns, not the takedowns themselves but the way you had to initiate them, I hated it so I started to use Dozer more and more, he is fun.

What do I expect from BF6?

I am been really grounded here, I am expecting lots of things I don't like in the game but I am hopeful they have listened to the mountain of feedback from players such as how vehicles spawn, how spawns work near contested flags etc I am hopeful they have implemented more engaging gunplay and more ways to play tactically.

See you all on the battlefield.
