it's corny how many snipers there are on certain maps

we can blame it on open classes.

Blackwell fields is just a sniper fest especially. the majority of weapons on the battlefield should be assault rifles or carbine but why bother with them? they suck due to dispersion and ADS bullet spread alone.

big maps -> too many snipers

small maps -> too many SMGs

it's not even fun.

id say limit the amount of sniper class weapons per team, or something, but it should be a combo of making ARs and carbines suck less as well

Better map design helps.  If non-sniper infantry have plenty of cover between points to play the objectives, they have a way to "defend" themselves from campers and vehicles.

  • yeah map design is big thing, also the "big" are small compared to other BF's,

devs recognize the small maps and gun issues and challenges . . .

guns need to tweaked + balanced / set more align IRL counterparts (but still keep the fun game aspect instead of going full on mil sim) gun meta (like SMG's are king, long range, less dmg drop off, laser accurate out to sniper ranges) / gun state / state of guns,

challenges, like 300 X 200 m shots just to get past a challenge are also part of it. Or get 50K dmg on laz0red vehicles kinda thing.  but they are working those too.

    Spotting for your team . . .

  • First they need to fix the core elements of Battlefield, otherwise you are patching and not solving the issue.

They need to rework the class and path system to be more balanced. They need to fix meta class (support) and pointless path (spec ops). I would prefer close weapons but a hybrid system would be welcomed and allow smokes to be open to all or at least recon

Map design is good but the sizes are very small which technically they said they'll release bigger maps on future content (annoyed that ill have to pay). But when creating big maps have a mix of areas (urban, open spaces, trenches and different elevations) with well spaced objectives would make maps more diverse and require different strategies to obtain them. More strategic and allow vehicles to make better use of its speed

Game pace needs to be more tactical. Increase respawn penalty so players will avoid zombie rushing or feel like team death match. Definitely agree with slowing movement, decreasing jump, and increasing penalty on movement mechanics (sprint + jump should be heavily penalized instead of rewarded)

Old Suppression should be brought back, slightly blur with a small AoE so you need to fire near the enemy to supress it. The health regen delay could be added as Suppression for explosives with a very wide and prolonged AoE as explosives feel rather useless. Also remove the glow from grenades, the old warning system is more then enough and this would make interceptor system more valuable to equip.

Agree with comments and post that there is plenty to fix and balance but if they would deal with these areas first, the game would truly feel more strategic and it would be easier to balance other areas

  • They've fully and intentionally made sniping the most easy and attractive it's ever been despite pretty much all versions of BF in the last 15 years receiving sniper-related criticism.

In BF4 back when there was a decent hired server program there were a ton of sniper limited servers.

For BF6 - supposedly getting back to those good old days - they've made snipers so suppression does nothing (and there is no flinch when hit) and the range finder can be mapped to the fire key so bullet drop does nothing.

In BF1 - with spread/bloom that everyone complains about - I can counter snipe with an LMG. In BF6 nothing can counter sniper except another sniper and then only pro-snipers, because they don't give 10x scopes until way way into ranking up the rifles.

It is apparent DICE devs haven't played previous BFs and don't play BF6.

  • Sniping in this game is to easy.   Its cod sniping,   point and shoot.   I have pulled off snipes that made me feel bad.     There are no longer good snipers,  everyone can be one.   So of course on the maps more suitable for sniping there will be a lot of them.

  • It's because of the fact that these 'snipers' are able to run around and quick scope and get headshots. The solution is to make sniper rifles require real skill and be used the way they are meant to be used. Accuracy needs to be non existent unless the player is prone or crouching and mounted. This standing up and getting one shot kills is ridiculous.

I am rank 95 and still chasing weapon challenges. Will the grind end at some point?

The point being, while grinding for weapons, I search for specific maps more conducive for that challenge. If many are doing the same, it makes sense that certain maps are more of a particular weapon that others, and the objective play is low.
