Be that I play a lot of support, the mortar is kinda mid when just one person is lobbin bombs. Breakthrough and similar modes tend to highlight the balance changes needed since the capture zones are so condensed. Everyone gets blown off of them eventually by a mortar tube.
I like the concept of an ammo limit that either replenishes slowly or the mortar gadget replenishes slowly. The concept could be the player starts with 5 mortar rounds. Once they are depleted, the gadget is useless and must recharge OR the player can begin using the mortars as soon as 1 round is replenished but the replenish rate of mortars are 50 to 100% longer than the gadget. Just an idea.
OR, we could let Recon drones fly further into the HQ zones to destroy mortar gadgets. 🤷♂️ Or, heck, give the mortar to Recon and don't allow it to replenish at all unless the gadget is depleted and cannot recharge the gadget until it is depleted.

OK. But before you do that show me what I am doing wrong. I drop 30 + and get one kill. LOL.
