Based on the hours I've played and my observation of these events. I either lose with a 0-800 round or win with a 800-0.
just observing these games I personally think its less of a skill issue and more of playstyle issue which is either supported or unsupported by map design.
most maps and built like a tug of war, and your options are limited due to narrow choke points, limited flanking options and close base proximity. Its a straight line which forces the teams to clash.
9/10 times the team with a more aggressive approach will succeed vs a passive stationary or slow moving playstyle. Now the map design benefits those who run and gun, it takes maybe 10-15 seconds or less to run from one flag to another on most maps.
- No transportation required.
- No specific team or squad play required (regroup, mount up)
- No pause in the combat
- (Depending on the map) There is a forced frontline or no official frontline (Just scattered units everywhere)
- Rarely any isolated fighting or small skirmishes such as squad vs squad
If you are to look at basically every map, you can often shoot at the enemy in the neighboring capture point.
Now the objective for CONQUEST is to the capture the flag and hold the majority. That makes it very easy for a team who runs from base to base aggressively in under 15 seconds. Even if someone managed to break through the line and capture a base behind, no doubt the aggressive team will arrive in a very short duration to recapture.
I find the medium sized maps such as Eastwood don't encounter these balance issues as much, it does happen but not as much compared to other maps.
In short - Map design makes it too easy for aggressive players to redirect their force onto neighboring capture points due to the close proximity and no downtime. End result is an overwhelmed and trapped opponent with limited flanking options.

its not map design brother. maybe they are doing some type of matchmaking. They definitely are shuffling teams before each match but maybe there is some hidden skill rating. cause most people I look at have a 50/50 W/L ratio including myself. though of course its unnatural when forced with an algorithm that either puts you on the team doing the stomping or getting stomped. And if you way out your league your K/D is all that matters, cause getting stomped on the winning team is also not fun. So what I'm saying is this is what normally happens also in valorant and cs and overwatch for example. And when there is not enough players to fill up a server with others at an equal or slightly higher skill level with a fast que, you end up with teams from every skill bracket under the sun. So teams with a beginner and pro on the same team, which again makes it all meaningless. It makes the mmr just look like its being pwned, because even if the playerbase is so low thats all they can do, it means it already was pwned.
But that's just as bad as naturally letting anyone join w/e team they want with premades, so you end up with that same feeling of a non competitive match no matter what your W/L is. But on the other side of the token, if you were to have competitive matches, people still would not care about the W/L, because even a loss can be more gratifying if it was a good fight, rather than a win that was not. I mean either way a W/L is meaningless cause these are random anonymous teamates and its not what people are joining the match for, and to pretend its anything other than that by these game companies is disingenuous. And to force us to be subjected to matches that are frankly unsporting for a fake W/L is downright sadistic. We are like sacrifices to a facade.
But Battlefield is way more casual friendly then most fps games online, and to see posters act like this is something unique to it or worse in this game, also comes off disingenuous to me. - Sl8er1327 days agoNew Traveler
The biggest map I have had a gripe about is Iberian, where one team's spawn point can easily be camped in from the 3 potential small exits. Yes, possibly with a good coordinated multi squad push, you could get out, but more times than not, tank will sit up on near the shacks, people sit around corner at top of the driveway to E, and then you just die.
