My little bit of feedback
Hi everyone,
As a Battlefield 3 veteran, happy to be back to the BF universe with the new title, feeling like a kid again, thank you DICE and EA! Since the game just came out, I figured I'd like to post my thoughts in the hopes that it will spark a discussion and hopefully let others share their feelings too. Please note that for the most part this is my personal opinion, it doesn't necessarily reflect the state of the game, except the one bug report at the bottom of the post.
General Feedback
Spawn points
The most glaring thing I've noticed is that respawn points around the different objectives feel random/chaotic; when attacking a point, very often I happen to have enemies come from the same direction I just arrived, making it very hard to plan for a lockdown of the objective since enemies might come from any direction at any time.
I have noticed the same as a defender, in multiple cases I respawned right behind an enemy player, on the opposite side of the line of defense that my team was holding, thus creating a crunch zone where the opposing team gets ambushed with little to no ability to backtrack, regroup or have a steady flow of reinforcements come in.
TTK/TTD
I've seen mentions of desync issues right now which probably contributes to my impression, but it feels like TTK/TTD is extremely quick in some situations - I've died more times than I could count within a second or less without even getting a chance to spot the enemy or react.
Shotgun & SMG range
Perhaps I've just been unlucky, but I feel like the range of shotguns and SMGs could be reduced a bit to make them the kings of truly close combat. Shotguns seem to maintain good efficiency at 20m+ and can consistently score kills while SMGs manage to contest assault rifles at 50m+. I'd personally (and I can't stress on this enough) expect that it's the SMGs that lock you down at 20-40m and shotguns that immediately wipe you out if you happen to walk into the same room together.
Assault Class underwhelming
Since the Assault class can no longer support itself via med kits and that has been given to the Support, I think it could instead use higher amount of ammo and grenades. As it currently stands, based on the few different weapons I tried on it, the Assault only has 3 magazines which are usually very quickly depleted if you try and provide any sort of suppressive fire support. Without the ability to restock or to rush into a point and self-sustain, it mostly feels like an objective-bot.
Bug
As a Recon, sometimes when I use the recon drone, upon exiting from its control, I'm unable to zoom in with the main weapon. I have to switch weapons in order to re-enable the zoom.
