My message to EA/Dice.

The game is great and fun.

It feels like a Michael Bay movie every time I play, the gameplay is grounded, the colors contrast well (feels like desert storm rather than an arcade game), and it plays really good.

But I have ONE question: why?

You have the opportunity now to do something great. In a world filled with dumb skins, collabs that make 0 sense, consumerism, and honestly just brain dead money grabbing machines, you positioned yourself to stand out when you launched the open beta.

That is the exact reason why the game received so much hype: people wanted to go back to the roots of war games. And you promised to deliver. Multiple times. Publicly.

But now, with the release of the first season, I am concerned that this promise is slowly dwindling. Sure the skins are cool, and they can be seen as “grounded” since it’s all still typical military attire just with different styles as opposed to a robot or some dude in a suit, right?

Yes, but it’s pushing it. Many of these skins are seriously pushing the grounded atmosphere we all loved and a few go far beyond it.

So this leads me back to my question: why?

It doesn’t take a genius to realize what the people want. Go on literally any social media platform, search for Battlefield 6, and you’ll see what people like and don’t like. Every single time, including during the open beta. Everyone loved how it was pure all out war. Grounded. Literally every app was posting about that aspect of it, saying “we’re so back” and “the world is healing” and so on.

So why on earth are you now pushing back on that promise?

It’s like having the winning lottery numbers right in front of you. And instead of cashing out, you throw them in the trash.

It’s like being a company founder desperate to sell your product and having tons of people say they’ll buy it if you make these changes but choose to not listen.

Or better yet, it's like being a multi-billion dollar video game publishing corporation which has had multiple failed games in recent years that is aiming to make the next biggest game--one that is profitable with a strong reputation--and ignoring what is essentially the blueprint right in front of you to make that happen. I mean seriously, in every single corner of the internet you will find feedback for this game in plain English and what it should and shouldn't be.

Let me put it in corporate terms: you won’t make much money and increase shareholder value by creating a game that will die as fast as BF2042 or BO6. You’ll make tons more money, along with way higher MRR/ARR Even years down the line by keeping it grounded.

You literally have the chance to reshape the next decade of gaming and end this brain dead, IQ deficient cycle of colorful, triple A, cash grab games. And trust me, like I already said, sticking to your word will make you way more money than selling some skins in a store and becoming a CoD wannabe.

If you don't act, I want everyone to take a moment of silence for what died here today: a game that had the potential to disrupt the fabric of gaming, all to end up like just another withering away battlefield game.

You know exactly what people want.

You know exactly what people hate.

You know exactly what caused the battlefield 6 hype.

You know exactly what caused other games to die.

You know exactly what happened to BF2042.

You know exactly what BF6 needs to be.

You know exactly what it shouldn’t be.

You know exactly what you need to do.

——————————————————

Now do it.

  • Why ? I'll tell you why.

    MONEY, that's why.

Battle Royale isn't the problem. They heard about the skins, and they are acting progressively on it. The Razer one that looked like flashy green is now way more muted. I tested the Gauntlet mode, it's interesting. Not my stuff, but I can hop in from time to time, it's not the worst thing in the world.

But have you seen the grind incoming ? 110 tiers in the battle pass, each needing 10 points for a total of 1100 points to gather. And one game of Escalation gives you 2 to 3 points. Do the math, that means you need to play between 360 and 550 rounds a season. 3 months per season, that puts it at 4 to 6 rounds A DAY. And an escalation game is about 30 minutes long... 2 to 3 hours A DAY. Minus the 60 points a week you get from challenges, which grant a negligible change to those numbers.

But you don't have that much time. Because you have a job, studies, maybe family and/or friends. Or God forbids, other games you want to play. So EA and DICE have the solution. They will provide you with boosts... Skip some of the grind, by giving them money. Pay for the Battle Pass, then pay for the Battlefield Pro for skip and faster XP, Pay, Pay, Pay !

Understand this: EA doesn't give a **bleep** about whether or not the game is good. What they care about is the money. I saw the press conference and I thought they were going to make something for the players. And they did. To get us in. Now that we tasted the sweet heroin, we want more, and they will provide more. But they will make us pay and grind for it. And if you think those numbers for the grind are horrible, don't worry. They will get worse. They always do.

Go on literally any social media platform, search for Battlefield 6, and you’ll see what people like and don’t like.

Worst advice ever when it comes to BF6. They took care of that problem by sponsoring an absurd amount of content creators who eat every word they say like it's gospel. Any person voicing concerns was mocked and/or insulted. Now the honeymoon period is over, people will realize the problem. But too late. Reviews are out, 7 million copies were sold. They played masterfully, and now we are **bleep**.

Edit: math wasn't mathing, fixed the numbers. Previous numbers were based on one month (30 days). Sorry. Still absurd tho

I agree with you, you have valid points. My post was meant to be general and honestly let off some steam. I didn't think the BR was the problem, quite frankly, it looks fun. The skins are fine, still mostly grounded, but pushing it. The grind I don't mind too much since it's by choice. But everything else like the direction where they are going, some of the maps, etc. is what is getting me, partially skins too (trust me, there is no way they changed the Razer skin because of the community). Sure, it is all for money, but they could make SO MUCH MORE money if they retain players and give them a reason to play! I know people that have uninstalled the game or stopped playing regularly because of today. If they had made it differently, those would probably all still be paying customers. Yeah money is the reason, but they can make way more by listening to us. I mean, why did every big company ever get big, they made what customers wanted....
