Nightfall - Feedback After Update 1.2.2.0

Call of Battleroom 6, lights out. Im struggling to understand the appeal, or why they thought this was a good idea for Battlefield.

Team imbalance: I've played 6 rounds, 5 of which were losses, due to team imbalance issues. I'm 154, and I was on a team of people ranging from 30 to 80, against a team of people 200+, in the first round. The next few rounds were similar mixes of levels, noticing a huge bias to one team or another. My winning round was because I ended up on the team of "red" players. Why has this still not been addressed?

Spawn Camping: In most rounds, I've experienced issues where enemy players are standing next to me when I spawn in. Some were spawning in at the back of the base where our team tended to appear the most, waiting for this. Unsure why this is still a present issue in death match modes, as I was under the impression the Devs were aware of this and actively fixing it?

Night Vision Goggles: I've regular issues where they keep refusing to activate after holding the button for an extended time. I've tried another controller and I'm having the same issues. The icon fills up, then keeps spinning around endlessly. Was this appropriately tested before release? It's the exact same issue for the gasmasks.

Netcode and hitreg: Honestly seems worse after this update. Unsure why ploughing 5 slugs into a player at close range, with the reticle aimed directly at their chest does nothing, yet I can be one hit killed by them. Is this a crossplay issue? It feels like it's repeatedly being ignored. Across the board, the amount of bullets needed to kill a player seems to have increased. Was this by design?

Engineer and Recon are neglected: Sure, I can fire an RPG close range, or set a few claymores or motion detectors down, but what's the point when it's so fast paced, and the netcode and imbalance issues are still present? With people instantly respawning in this mode, they'll be gone in record time. There's no need for tactics, you just shoot, die and respawn. At least in bigger modes and maps, you have the option of tactics. It's the historic issue of small scale modes on Battlefield. It's not really the focus of a big warzone game. It's not supposed to be call of duty.

The Map: It's simply boring. Boxy, traditional, DOOM style corridors, but executed worse. Again, this franchise was built around big, open air, vehicular, combat, where a map has a balance between areas of close quarter, and vehicular alike, such as Battlefield 1 or V. Again, these modes are for COD, and shouldn't be the main selling point of the season. I was a regular pilot on most Battlefield games, and now that seems like a distant memory. Jets are neglected to the point of almost non existence, and helicopters die instantly on conquest, which again is plagued by many of these issues above.

Night modes are a good addition, but not in this setting. This post hasn't even addressed the masses of UI, user agreement and crashing issues I've faced on PS5 either.

Again, poor show EA, do better! You've got the money for it.

    Exactly. Completely agree.

It's insulting that they keep getting in a huff whenever big maps are mentioned in interviews too.

We don't care what was planned prior to release, and we certainly don't care what the original vision was, as it's clear that hasn't been remotely achieved on a technical level, or in fan favour based on the series.

It's like making a Tomb Raider game that plays like Candy Crush. It doesn't make logical sense that THIS is what time and resources are going into.

Utter madness, and as a game developer myself, I have to question their vision for this project.

I'll leave my feedback here, too, because I don't want to bloat the forum even more. I love the game and support the developers in most cases, but this update is the biggest disappointment so far, and I don't even see (pun not intended) how it can be made better. A primitive corridor night map... for close quarters battles? And for GAUNTLET? The only thing to make it worse is to make it Strikepoint only. BF6 SCREAMS for big maps. The previous one was a huge step in right direction... and now this?

And the map itself is very raw. It doesn't have any character or style, it's boring, it leaves absolutely no options for "smart" gameplay - jumpsliding clowns and corner campers always win. Any kind of tactics or, forgive me, strategy simply do not exist here. Hell, even that corridor map from BF2042 was better - and that one was bad compared to previous BFs maps! The whole experience is absolutely horrible, and as soon as I get my bonus pass points, I'm not touching it again.

Completely agree, other than the details. A lot of these assets are recycled from other maps or REDSEC. It feels like an afterthought.

(Also my original post was based around CQB Nightfall, but since then I've tried conquest which is equally bad).

    It honestly feels even worse.

Sure we can drone or blow up walls, but what's the point? They get destroyed extremely quickly, and having to use anything other than sniper on recon reduces your weapon skills for that class. So why would you want to play as engineers or recon on this map? It's pointless. Id rather go outside and level those classes up properly. Sure you can blow up walls, but it doesn't change the choke points and areas where teams end up neck and neck. Plus with the team imbalances, the match is over in 5 mins anyway.

As someone who bought skins, bought season 1 and 2 pro and gets twitch drops, I'm making sure to avoid this title at all costs after I'm done with the pass.

    What a letdown.

I'll add some of my own feedback here. And hopefully EA will read it and pick up on it.

To start with the positive. I think they put a lot of time in this map to design, which you can clearly see in the details. However, I have a feeling the developers were too busy when designing the map to aim for a certain way to play or not play the map (although that is part of their job).

Agree with you completely on the NetCode and Hitreg. Been experiencing the same. I have crossplay turned off and only play on PS5. Same experience as you describe.

I am not a Dominatation or Death Match player. Tried it again. Not my thing. So cannot say too much about the Nightfall. Although it could definitely add something to the gameplay component.
I played the map only on Conquest. It's decent. But a disappointment if you introduce it (like EA did) as the next Metro or Locker. It just isn't for several reasons.

    • The main one being that it has so many corridors and ways to get around and it is so spread out (for a map without vehicles) that there is no single dominant chokepoint where the actions comes together (in meat grinder style).
    • There is almost no space around most of the objectives to actually take cover and try to defend the objective. If you do try than (since there ar all of these corridors and ways around) it is a matter of seconds before you get shot in the back.
    • Due to these points there rarely is a concentrated area of action, if there is you get killed fast and so miss most of it waiting on the spawn screen.
    • I think one possible and partial solution for this would be to also have this map available as Breakthrough, which would allow for concentrated action per objective with all players at the spot covering all corridors. Maybe add some VL7 gas here and there to at least give some cover at the objectives.

In comparison I feel the Contaminated map felt more of an addition and a better overall map than Hagental. It definitely isn't the next Metro or Locker (I would love to see those making a comeback in BF6).
