No fixes for Manhattan Bridge in the roadmap?

I can't help notice Manhattan Bridge is not on the list of maps that will get fixes in the upcoming roadmap. Now I'm not entirely sure if there's an overall consensus over this, but I do think a bunch of people would agree that:

  • The roof camping on that map is utterly obnoxious. Roofs can't be accessed through the buildings, and buildings can't be fully destroyed, leading to overpowering positions with, once you own helo is down, little counterplay. Roofs overlooking E and A are probably the worst, although a spawn gadget on the top level of D will defend the point all match.
  • The little bird is utterly bonkers on that map. Main issue will be on A: with the obj being a small square in a narrow street, a pass for the bird will just clean everything up every time. All they need to do is set up at the end of the street and just come down at full speed. 
  • There's very little the infantry can do to the helos, the streets are too narrow and pilots are smart enough not to hover.  You have to be on a roof - again - and be lucky. 

The infantry and gourd vehicle play is actually a lot of fun, and I really enjoy that map without the roof camping. But once people start parachuting down, it becomes miserable. 

I think the fix is easy: just remove the choppers, they literally serve no other purpose than getting people on inaccessible roofs. If you can think of another way, like making rooftops accessible, great, but otherwise please consider doing this.

    I can understand why those positions feel frustrating to fight against, especially when they are difficult to contest and become even more impactful around objective play.

    Thanks for the thoughtful follow-up.

    It’s good to hear the recent change helped with one part of the problem, but I understand your point that it doesn’t really address the larger design concern from your side. 

    The comparison to similar positions in previous Battlefield titles is helpful, especially the point that while those spots have existed before, they were not usually this accessible or this strong in practice. I’ll make sure this feedback is noted and shared along.

    Siege of Shanghai and Dawnbreaker both had this same problem, and those maps were no fun to play on because of it. 

    This map should play like Sienne crossing, but instead it just sucks.  The helos can run rampant because the RPG was nerfed, which was the only solution to air on this map EA, thanks for nerfing that for no reason EA, great decision.

    Roof abusers also make the game feel like crap, because they have easy cover while ground has 0 cover against that angle.  Nato spawn is also insanely easy to spawn camp for both infantry and air because of it's lack of cover and alternate spawn exits.

    It's likely the worst map in the game, for worse than Sobek, yet they're changing Sobek and not Manhatten?  Sobek is bad because of the roof camping.  Green tower is the worst offender.  If they made green tower this cool building that could be toppled and fell down into the map, it would fix 90% of what is bad about Sobek.

    Blackwell though, thank god that place is getting fixed.  Blech map.

    Thanks for that reply. The changes have been noted and not being able to capture the obj from the higher up position was a welcome change. It hasn't really changed the core issues though. Right now, the only counterplay requires a scarce resource (your own helo with a savvy pilot, either gunning down the trespassers AND getting the spawn gadget, or people jumping down and winning their duels), and I would say that's a point of design that should generally be avoided. 

    Of note, other BF titles have had high up positions that couldn't be reached without a chopper. However, they have seldom been as advantageous as they are on this map, and the gunplay in BF6 renders the issue considerably worst: with the current crop of laser guns, shooting from one of those positions is incredibly efficient.

    Hi there,

    I understand that holding high-ground positions on the map can significantly affect other players’ gameplay experience. There have also been similar discussions within the community, and the team has previously made related adjustments. 

    Update 1.1.3.0

    • Adjusted Conquest and Escalation capture areas on Manhattan Bridge so objectives can no longer be captured from rooftop positions.
    • Extended rooftop out-of-bounds areas on Empire State, Manhattan Bridge, and Saints Quarter.

    Update 1.2.1.0

    • Fixed an issue in Sabotage where attackers could reach elevated positions and spawn-camp the defending team on Blackwell Fields.
    • Fixed an issue on Siege of Cairo where players could reach the top of buildings in Sector D3 using the Deployable Cover gadget.
    • On Manhattan Bridge, fixed an issue where players could stand on top of the bridge, creating unintended gameplay advantages.
    • On Empire State, fixed an issue where players could capture Point B (Sector 2) on Breakthrough from an unintended upper floor.

    Yea the little bird NEEDS removed from that map and those roofs are just horrible to go against. The ones only accessible by heli need kill zones so they cant be used and the ones with ziplines up them need adjusted because pushing them ( especially modes where they are objectives) is just some of the worst design in the game.
