Would you please explain to me what was your expectation for sitting in the open doing a frontal assault on the attack helicopter with the one launcher that needs maintaining a lock at the target?

how was it?First I had quite some disappointment in the first few minutes then I decided to put some more care to the entire affair and things became a lot more satisfying
so far I have scored 4-5 non lethal hits and 3 vehicle kills. One of the 3 hits went through the flares too
Eventually I got more hits or bailouts. I caused several aircraft to retreat and or use flares without even wasting a missile, opening them to attacks from allied aircraft.
I think that to pull the trigger while the enemy flares are up is a foolish choice unless you want to force them to spend those flares for the sake of someone else doing the takedown or to make them panic.
I think that some people really underestimate the non-lethal effects of these launchers even when one does not even pull the trigger. They make the pilot uncomfortable and force them to reconsider their approach etc. Not all lock ons have to result to a hit or a kill to benefit the team.
This is a team game and it is not just the job of one footsoldier to completely discombobulate the enemy airforce.
However there is just one criticism I have for the IGLA, the way the missile can be lost just because the aircraft gets low enough to get bellow radar is one thing that feels extra janky.
There are a few idea that come to mind to balance that. Either to make the IGLA missile even faster to give less room for altitude drops OR to make it more like in BF4 were a lock-lost igla missile starts flying upwards and if one re-aqquires the lock, it comes back down and hits the target again.The current IGLA just seems like a worse stinger due to all its current style.
One last thing: Bellow radar can be circumvented if a recon gets to laser designate the aircraft, then the lock on will still go and nail the aircraft. I think that it was the laser designated heli that got hit by the IGLA through the flares too.
Unless someone is designating, you will do more good by choosing to be the one designating
