Seriously just because squad mates can spawn in the helicopter isn't a good enough reason to lock the seat from team spawning. The amount of attack helicopters going out without a gunner in this game is insane, it's probably the majority. I can't find a gunner for the life of me, I'll ask in chat and nobody will even respond because everyone is use to it ending within the first 30 seconds.
this is 100% valid point, i mean most of the time i see the heli with a gunner BUT on the occasion the seats empty anyone should be able to fill it.
It's like this for all vehicles when a player has their squad locked, and I think it's seriously affecting how game modes, especially conquest play. Sometimes there's a bunch of tanks and vehicles you can't spawn on that are in crucial positions of capturing/defending flags, so you're forced to spawn away from the action. In every BF game I've played since BF3, you've always been able to spawn into any teammate's vehicle.
I get that some people don't want randoms joining their squad, but I'm starting wonder if DICE intended for people to be locked out of vehicles, or is this just another bug?
Yes, this needs to be implemented. This is part of the reason games are ending 900-0 because no one can get to any flag when you're down to 1 or 2 near your main base. Because idiots take off in the heli's w/o waiting to transport people, there's no way to cap back flags to gain some ground.
Like seriously I continue to hate this so much. I have to **bleep** beg people to either join my squad and load in or my squad mates to die and spawn in. My experience 100% of the time so far is that NO one will spawn into the helicopter after I do. Most of your squad either stays alive for the time you're in it, or they ignore or don't notice there is a spot in the helicopter. Considering the average life expectancy, it's really too much to ask to make you have to verbally find some one every time you want to fly it. Tanks a completely different story. They're much more visible and in the middle of the action a lot of the time, and anyone on the ground can just run up to it and hop in. The helicopter can't be treated the same way.
It is a way to exploit the anti-air missile launcher used by the engineer class. If you lock and shoot, the missile always misses when the pilot switches to the gunner seat.
