People need to stop glorifying points captured stat in escalation

I am sure everyone has experienced this . You look at the scoreboard, see that 22 cap assault player boasting about their cap number in chat and yelling at their team. Why does everyone see this high cap number as a thing worth boasting about? I can get up to 20 to 30 cap too if I just run with the rest of the mob of people on escalation going from point to point.

This stat is completely pointless if you are not actively back capping. I swap to engineer and have low cap to kill vehicles, I swap to support to revive and defend back caps and I have low cap.

Honestly point capture stat needs to be replaced by something more useful, like player revive or something, going from point to point in a mob as assault does not make one useful. Seen so many assault players that never even put down a beacon but have high cap by running with the mob complaining about other people not swapping.

IMO they need to add points defended to that stat or remove that stat and replace with anything more useful, because point captured means nothing if they can't even hold the point afterward.

Lol, in other words, "people need to stop glorifying playing the objective". Remove this post until it's too late, it's embarassing.

Defending the points is important, of course, but it's not Assault's main job (which is obvious).

22 points captured requires more than just “running with the mob”. But more generally speaking, I don’t care much for people throwing stats of any kind as if it were proof of anything. I had someone mocking me for having only 8 kills in a match, but I happened to have C4’ed three tanks in that match, each time while defending a point. Stats don’t necessarily reflect the quality of the contribution.

Someone proposed replacing the capture number by time spent on an obj: that way, you don’t get a lot of captures just by spawning on your teammates that have done the actual work, and you get more reward for defending. I can see some issues with this too, but still maybe a good alternative?

That being said, the most common diss and boasts I see in the chat are about KDR. If diss and boasts are a requirement, I’d much rather it were about captures than KDR: people not trying to capture is an issue, I never heard of people not trying to get kills.
