Player Engagement

This is anecdotal, but I think it is indicative. I have nine "Friends" in BF6. Lately, NONE of them are in the game at any given time. AND, the time frame since they were on ranges from a few days to 4+ weeks (4 of the 9 are 4+ weeks). There was a time I could count on most of them being there when I logged on.

Yes it's indicative of a battlefield game that's been out for 12 months. Population in Australia is very healthy right now with approximately 5000 players in games during peak.
Incidentally, the steam player peak went up 70% when season 5 released. Maybe your friends were part of that, did you check in with them?
