You can leave it in the game as its a good ability, but it should be used as a defensive ability and not a offensive capability. A simple fix would be a cool down period for slide or limit its speed and range. What definitely needs changed thigh is the ability to jump mid slide. It feels too much like COD in that regard and have died so many times to people abusing it. It should be a good tool to get to cover, but not to just turn into a lobster at the first sign of danger.
Actually, nearly every Battlefield game has been a fast-paced shooter at its core—quick TTK, chaotic infantry rushes, and movement tech have defined the series for years.
BF3/BF4: Non-stop frenzy with bunny hopping, air strafing, and blistering gunfights.
BF1: Sprinting and sliding through trenches at breakneck speed, despite the WW1 setting.
BFV/2042: Slides encouraged aggressive dives and momentum-based combat.
Larger maps/vehicles/destruction slow the overall pace vs COD's corridor spam, but BF infantry has always been lightning-quick. The slide fits perfectly (love it!)
SketchyBogan__ Battlfield is more about cooperation and strategy (for a team-based game) as apposed to moving really fast and slipping and sliding like a fish on land in CoD (independent-based game) (no pun intended).
Both games are respectable in their own right. There needs to be an understanding of the differences. I dont hate either mechincs, its just the placement of them (i.e., game).
Which is exactly what BF players want... a slower than COD paced game, but not as slow as Arma. BF has always been about a slower paced game play with larger maps and vehicles and building destruction. It's great that they want to introduce new mechanics to the game, but when the majority of the community comes against it, it should be dealt with accordingly. I don't see anyone saying to remove it. I actually like the slide feature, but do think it is absurd when combined with jumping and the ability to shoot while sliding/jumping. It makes the slower paced game too far removed from what the fan base wants. As stated above, we'd go play COD if that is what we wanted.
Sliding gets nerfed because some players refuse to learn basic movement mechanics. Instead of adapting, improving, or figuring out how to counter it, they complain until the skill gap gets trimmed down to their comfort level. Every time someone loses a gunfight to movement, it’s suddenly “broken” instead of a positioning or tracking issue. Now sliding gets gutted, the pace slows, and the ceiling drops again. Movement is what separates aggressive, high-skill players from passive ones. When you start flattening that out, you don’t create balance; you create a safer, slower, camp-heavy meta. Congrats. We’re speedrunning the transition from skill expression to crouch-walk simulator.
It brings COD players. Yes, it's most annoying thing at the moment, but that's obviously not important for them.
It’s just an odd mechanic, you have slow movement, slow vaulting etc and at the same time can abuse sliding 24/7, you already see streamers do the weird slide into multiple jumps.
It’s so unnecessary
They tried in BF1. The day one release gave no tickets for kills, only for objectives.
The 'community' lost their minds.
Unfortunately the 'community' then was the loudest streamers who were making money getting kill streak fame and already even 10 years ago social media was all about self-promotion and showing off, not really the 'community' at all.
They could have made it so that only kills on an objective gave tickets, but no, they just folded and made 1 kill = 1 ticket so camping for kills was just as important as going for objectives.
Since then DICE has only gotten better at folding and choosing the easy/standard route. Much more interested in making the mass market comfy than pleasing their long-time fans.
Tactical depth is a far far distance consideration compared to wide popularity. They do not understand the phrase "a game for everyone is a game for no one" and they are only interested in short term wins.
They don't want a game that gains a loyal long-term fan base. They want the game to die in a year or two. They _want_ BF to be like a sports game with yearly paid-for versions.
With jumping there is an in insane penalty to accuracy
Do think the sliding needs a slight nerf, with how the rest of the game feels this is over the top currently
too much sliding and jumping, in normal mode player can run/slide through gun fire, in HC he cannot. So just stop this stupid COD play style wanna be and move closer to HC mode in every game format. So game is about winning battles in object and not just running around or sniping in the back. More points for capturing object and no point for killing, that should shake things up :)
